Hootsuite Review 2026: 30 User Reviews and a $99 Seat Price

I read 100 Hootsuite user reviews and cite 30. Standard costs $99 a seat billed annually, and self-serve fees are non-refundable.

Hootsuite Review 2026: 30 User Reviews and a $99 Seat Price

On Trustpilot, 69% of Hootsuite's 556 reviews give 1 star (checked Oct 15, 2026), and those reviewers write about charges and support. Melissa Ziegler wrote: "we were 5 days late initiating the cancellation in our auto renew and they will not let us out of our contract" (Trustpilot, Dec 12, 2025).

Her team faced a charge of "50% of our annual fee to early terminate." Satu Kujanpää "gave over 60 days notice" on an Enterprise contract, "and they told me they need 90 days" (Trustpilot, Jun 5, 2025). Under the self-serve terms, you get no refund on fees you have paid.

My view: the per-seat price tells you less than your seat count and your renewal date.

This review covers what one $99 seat buys, the billing terms, what 100 users report (30 quoted), 5 limits to check before checkout and 4 alternatives.

TL;DR#

  • What it is: Hootsuite is a social media management suite. You schedule posts, answer messages from one inbox, run 7-day or 30-day listening searches and build reports across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, TikTok, YouTube, Threads, Bluesky and Pinterest.

  • Where it wins: Standard gives one seat 10 social accounts, unlimited scheduled posts, AI captions and images, an inbox and benchmarks against 5 competitors for $99 a month billed annually.

  • Where it breaks: Every extra person costs another seat. Approval workflows start on Advanced at $399 a seat, and the self-serve terms make paid fees non-refundable.

  • Cost for a team of 3: $297 a month on Standard ($3,564 a year), $597 on Professional, $1,197 on Advanced, all billed annually.

  • Reviews: 4.4 on Capterra (3,804 reviews), 8.2/10 on TrustRadius (1,298 ratings) and 1.3 on Trustpilot (556 reviews), all checked Oct 15, 2026.

  • My verdict: Hootsuite is worth it if your team publishes to up to 10 brand accounts across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X and TikTok and wants scheduling, one inbox, 7-day listening and 5-competitor benchmarks in one $99 seat. Skip it if you run only a few channels and can't justify $99 a month, because Buffer Essentials costs $5 per channel a month billed yearly, or if you want buyers from Reddit, LinkedIn and Slack threads, because CommunityTracker Pro tracks 10 keywords for $99 a month.

How I Analyzed Hootsuite#

Last checked: Oct 15, 2026 (IST). I checked every price, plan limit, term and review count below on that date.

  • Reviews I read: 100 user reviews: the 60 newest on Trustpilot, the 10 newest on TrustRadius, 25 on Software Advice and 5 on Capterra UK, dated Nov 2024 to Sep 2026. I cite 30 of them, with 7 liked and 7 disliked points below.

  • Plans I checked: Standard, Professional, Advanced and Enterprise on hootsuite.com/plans and the three plan pages, on Oct 15, 2026, priced at 1, 3 and 10 seats.

  • Terms I read: the self-serve terms, payment terms, refund policy, billing FAQ and plan and account help.

  • Selection rule: a review counts only when I can link it and quote it word for word. Each quote carries the reviewer's name (or role) and the date.

Hootsuite#

Source: Hootsuite homepage, https://www.hootsuite.com/, captured Oct 15, 2026.

Hootsuite started in Vancouver in 2008, when its founder's agency needed a tool to manage social accounts (about). It counts 200K+ users and 6K+ enterprise customers, and its status page also tracks the Talkwalker and Sparkcentral web apps (status).

The product now ships as "Hootsuite Social OS," split into five modules:

  • Perch: content creation, the calendar and publishing.

  • Nest: the social inbox and customer care.

  • Lumen: listening and insights.

  • Wisdom: the AI assistant, with MCP connectors, on every plan.

  • Parliament: employee advocacy, on Enterprise.

You connect your Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, YouTube, Threads, Bluesky and Pinterest accounts. Then you write once, adjust per network, and schedule into one calendar.

Replies land in Nest. Mentions and keywords land in Lumen, and reports pull from the accounts you connected.

Hootsuite manages accounts you own. It does not find strangers' posts in Slack or Discord communities, and the self-serve plans search back 7 or 30 days.

Features#

  • Publishing (Perch): unlimited scheduled posts on every paid plan, a drag-and-drop calendar across networks, recommended posting times, a hashtag generator, a link-in-bio tool, asset and content libraries, and ad scheduling. Professional adds link shortening and tracking, outbound tags and automatic boosts of top posts.

  • Inbox (Nest): one inbox for public and private messages across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, Threads, TikTok, Google Business Profile and WhatsApp, with saved replies, contact notes and business hours. Professional adds automated replies, DM automations and AI smart replies. Advanced adds message assignment, skill-based routing and CSAT surveys.

  • Listening (Lumen): Standard searches the past 7 days for brand, competitor and hashtag mentions, compares 2 searches, and adds sentiment, peak detection and AI summaries. Professional searches 30 days, compares 5 results and exports them. Enterprise adds 13 months of history, alerts and brand review monitoring.

  • Analytics: paid and organic metrics for Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok, LinkedIn, Pinterest and YouTube. Standard benchmarks 5 competitors. Professional benchmarks 20 and adds custom, scheduled and exported reports.

  • AI (Wisdom): you ask questions about content, competitors and trends in plain English, and Professional adds trend forecasts up to 90 days ahead.

  • Approvals: Advanced adds approval workflows, internal comments and a switch to suspend scheduled posts.

  • Enterprise: SSO, compliance tools, a Salesforce integration, social ROI reporting and Parliament.

Some features need multiple user seats. Ask Hootsuite which ones before you buy a single seat.

My take on the features: Standard covers what a one-person social desk does each day. Count your accounts and your approvers first, because those two numbers decide your plan.

Pricing#

Hootsuite sells three self-serve plans per user, plus custom Enterprise. There is no free plan, and each self-serve plan comes with a 14-day trial that needs no card and does not charge you when it ends.

Prices below are annual-billing rates from hootsuite.com/plans on Oct 15, 2026, before tax. Hootsuite shows local currency by region (₹1,999, ₹3,999 and ₹7,999 from India), and the FAQ and plan data list USD.

  • Standard ($99 per user per month, billed annually): 10 social accounts, unlimited scheduled posts, AI posts and images, one inbox, 7-day listening, 5-competitor benchmarks.

  • Professional ($199 per user per month, billed annually): unlimited accounts, inbox automation and DMs, 30-day listening with export, 90-day trend forecasts, custom reports, 20-competitor benchmarks.

  • Advanced ($399 per user per month, billed annually): approval workflows, message assignment and routing, team productivity reports, branded reports and external report sharing.

  • Enterprise (custom): SSO, 13 months of listening history, advanced data sources, Salesforce integration, Parliament advocacy, and implementation support.

Monthly billing exists for all three self-serve plans at a higher per-user rate than annual billing. Hootsuite does not publish the monthly figure on the plans page or the three plan pages, so you see it only at checkout.

Three worked examples, on annual billing:

  • 1 person, 8 accounts: Standard at $99 a month, or $1,188 a year. That is $9.90 per account per month.

  • 3 people, 10 accounts: Standard at 3 x $99 = $297 a month, or $3,564 a year.

  • 3 people, 14 accounts, with approvals: Advanced at 3 x $399 = $1,197 a month, or $14,364 a year.

The jump from account 10 to account 11 costs $100 per seat per month. For a team of 3, that is $3,600 a year for one more account.

Billing terms to read before you subscribe:

  • Refunds: the payment terms make fees for paid plans non-refundable. Section 24 of the self-serve terms says a canceled plan keeps billing to the end of the term with no refund. The refund policy adds a form, and Hootsuite reviews each request. An approved refund takes 5 to 10 business days.

  • Auto-renewal: Section 22 renews every self-serve plan at the end of its term and bills you unless you cancel or downgrade.

  • Annual commitment: the billing FAQ calls an annual plan "a one-year commitment" paid as "one discounted, non-refundable payment." If you remove an add-on mid-cycle, it stays active and Hootsuite bills it to the end of the term.

  • Account deletion: deleting your account closes it at once "with no proration or partial refund."

  • Price changes: Hootsuite gives 30 days' notice, and no change applies inside your current term.

  • Mobile purchases: Hootsuite cannot refund App Store or Google Play subscriptions. You cancel those in the store at least 24 hours before the billing date.

  • Trial limits: trial accounts post 10 to 20 times a day per organization, and bulk scheduling is off until you pay.

To cancel, a Super Admin goes to Account, then Plan and billing, then Manage my subscription (help). The plan stays active to the end of the paid period.

Hootsuite accepts Visa, Mastercard, Discover, JCB and PayPal. Enterprise customers on annual plans can pay by invoice (by card, check, wire or ACH), and nonprofits can apply for a discount.

My take on the pricing: Standard gives value to one person running up to 10 accounts. It stops giving value when you add people, because each one costs $1,188 a year on Standard and $4,788 on Advanced. Set your renewal reminder the day you pay.

Pros#

  • One $99 seat covers 10 social accounts, unlimited scheduling, an inbox, 7-day listening and 5-competitor benchmarks.

  • The inbox covers 8 channels on Standard, including WhatsApp and Google Business Profile.

  • The 14-day trial needs no card and does not convert into a paid plan on its own.

  • The Wisdom AI assistant and MCP connectors come on every plan.

  • Hootsuite connects to 100+ integrations, including Canva and Salesforce.

Cons#

  • Every user is a paid seat, so a team of 3 on Standard costs $3,564 a year.

  • Approval workflows need Advanced at $399 a seat.

  • Self-serve fees are non-refundable by the terms, and plans auto-renew.

  • Standard listening searches only the past 7 days.

  • Hootsuite does not publish its monthly-billing prices.

  • There is no free plan.

Summary#

Hootsuite sells a social desk per seat. One seat with 10 accounts costs $1,188 a year, and the bill grows with each person, each approval step and each renewal you miss.

What Real Users Are Saying About Hootsuite in 2026#

Product reviewers and billing reviewers tell two stories. Capterra, Software Advice and TrustRadius praise the calendar and the dashboard. Trustpilot collects charges, renewals and support waits.

Capterra UK: 4.4/5 (3,804 reviews, checked Oct 15, 2026)#

Capterra UK shows 1,991 five-star and 37 one-star reviews. Software Advice and GetApp, sister sites under Gartner, show the same 4.4 and 3,804 total.

TrustRadius: 8.2/10 (1,298 reviews and ratings, checked Oct 15, 2026)#

TrustRadius lists 510 written reviews. All 10 of the newest carry an "Incentivized" tag.

Trustpilot: 1.3/5 (556 reviews, checked Oct 15, 2026)#

On Trustpilot, 69% of reviews give 1 star and 14% give 5 stars, with 47 reviews in the last 12 months.

What users liked#

  1. One dashboard for many accounts. "We have multiple Facebook pages and Instagram accounts so being able to post once and not have to duplicate everything has been such a time saver" (Grace, Trustpilot, Oct 22, 2025). A cafe owner manages "Instagram, Facebook, Twitter" from "one dashboard" for "menu updates, promotions, or event announcements" (Basanta, Capterra UK, Dec 9, 2024). Keri Kuiper adds: "You can do all 3 platforms with one click" (TrustRadius, Aug 20, 2026).

  2. A calendar you plan weeks ahead in. "I can easily rearrange them in the calendar using drag and drop. I can also save important dates in advance so they don't get lost and then write the posts later" (Jill F., Software Advice, Jun 2026). Another reviewer "scheduled all my posts for the week in one go" (amit s., Software Advice, Nov 2024).

  3. Drafts a manager can review. "It's a place my boss can look at the draft, and also look back at analytics of how we are doing" (Amanda Bellavance, TrustRadius, Aug 21, 2026).

  4. Week-over-week numbers. "We appreciate being able to see the total number of impressions we receive each week, compare posts from last week vs this week, and discover which posts perform better" (Manager in Marketing, TrustRadius, Apr 27, 2026). Leeann Gibbs's team uses "the industry benchmarks as well as review the post-performance reports" (TrustRadius, Aug 21, 2026).

  5. An inbox for support agents. At Caribbean Airlines, "Our agents work within the Inbox to manage direct messaging" (Leeann Gibbs, TrustRadius, Aug 21, 2026). Jill F. likes "the ticketing system and the resulting team collaboration" (Software Advice, Jun 2026).

  6. Listening on the lower plans. "It's one of the few tools that you could connect TikTok & Threads. They also offer a basic social listening which is great" (Verified Reviewer, Capterra UK, Aug 4, 2025). A marketing analyst calls Lumen Lite "vital for brand perception monitoring" (TrustRadius, Oct 8, 2026).

  7. Canva templates inside the composer. "Hootsuite has everything you could ask for in a social media marketing app, and using Canva templates [...] makes it that much better" (Lewis, Capterra UK, Nov 25, 2024). A director lists "Integration with Canva" first among pros (TrustRadius, Aug 20, 2026).

What users disliked#

  1. Renewals that bill after you think you left. "They proceeded to charge me over $1,000 before I caught that this subscription had rolled over" (Tristan N., Software Advice, Dec 2025). Melissa Ziegler's team missed the window by 5 days, and Hootsuite wanted "50% of our annual fee" (Trustpilot, Dec 12, 2025). Satu Kujanpää wrote: "They are charging me $500 more this year without letting me know about it" (Trustpilot, Jun 5, 2025).

  2. Support that answers in days. "It can take days and days to receive an email response" (Nelly Y, Trustpilot, Aug 31, 2026). Gary Oak wrote: "Have zero live support (You're lucky if you get a reply once every 48h)" (Trustpilot, Feb 13, 2026). A communications specialist asked: "Why has it taken 5 days to get receipts" (Trustpilot, Feb 20, 2026).

  3. Accounts that disconnect. "Our accounts seem to disconnect fairly frequently" (John Siegel, TrustRadius, May 1, 2026). An agency owner reports that "all of our Instagram Business connections failed, causing posting interruptions for multiple clients" (Gabriella Cray, Trustpilot, Nov 4, 2025).

  4. Cost per seat for small teams. "It is very effective in postings but the cost is high to a medium sized business" (Amir H., Software Advice, Mar 2026). A UK marketing consultant gave 2 stars and wrote "Very expensive" (Doga, Capterra UK, May 23, 2025). A self-employed writer wrote: "I don't like the monthly cost of the application" (Crystal A., Software Advice, Jun 2026).

  5. Menus that move. "The names of the lefthand bar - since they've changed they are confusing and unnecessarily take up time I don't have" (Manager in Marketing, TrustRadius, Aug 21, 2026). A five-year user lists "Too many changes: The interface updates every so often, sometimes drastically changing usability" (TrustRadius, Aug 24, 2026).

  6. Publishing gaps by network. "LinkedIn doesn't allow you to schedule PDF uploads" (Demi M., Software Advice, Jun 2026). "I wish I could tag people in social posts directly from Hootsuite" (Director in Marketing, TrustRadius, Aug 20, 2026). Addison hit a frame-rate error that reads "60.0002 fps" on videos at 60 fps (Trustpilot, Feb 22, 2026).

  7. Analytics that differ from the network's own. "The social media platform analytics are not accurate (I have to go to Meta or Linkedin directly for accurate numbers on impressions and likes)" (Taylor, Trustpilot, Apr 14, 2025). Nicole Rothenberger lists "Hard to view analytics sometimes" (TrustRadius, Aug 29, 2026).

One billing story ended in a refund. Hootsuite charged Aimee-Lee more than 1,000 euros after she removed her card, and she later updated her review: "Hootsuite refunded the amount quickly and efficiently" (Trustpilot, Apr 25, 2025).

Can you trust these ratings in 2026?#

Weigh each site for a different question:

  • Reviewer pools: on Capterra, 86 of 3,804 reviews give 1 or 2 stars (2.3%). On Trustpilot, 69% give 1 star. Gartner and TrustRadius reviewers are users who post about the product. Trustpilot reviewers post about charges and support.

  • Incentives: all 10 of the newest TrustRadius reviews and 7 of the 25 Software Advice reviews I read carry an incentive tag.

  • Off-product reviews: 14 of the 60 newest Trustpilot reviews, posted Jan 21 to Feb 26, 2026, protest Hootsuite's reported work with US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and do not rate the software.

  • Dates: GetApp's feature analysis covers reviews from July 2021 to October 2024, before the 2026 Social OS plan lineup.

My take (what the patterns add up to): Judge the product by Capterra and TrustRadius, and judge the contract by Trustpilot. The praise is about the calendar and the dashboard. The complaints are about renewals, seats and support time.

Limitations to Know Before You Buy#

1. Standard stops at 10 social accounts#

Standard connects 10 accounts. Account 11 moves every seat to Professional at $199, which adds $100 per person per month.

What this means for you: list every brand account, including test pages and regional profiles, before you pick a plan. If you sit at 9, plan for the jump.

2. Approval workflows cost $399 per seat#

Approvals, internal comments and suspending scheduled posts sit on Advanced only. A writer plus an approver costs 2 x $399 = $798 a month billed annually.

What this means for you: if one person writes and one person signs off, price Advanced first, then ask whether a shared draft view in Standard covers your sign-off.

3. Self-serve fees are non-refundable by the terms#

The payment terms make fees non-refundable, and Section 24 bills a canceled plan to the end of its term. The refund form starts a review that Hootsuite can decline.

What this means for you: start on the 14-day trial, pay monthly for the first term if the checkout price allows it, and cancel at least 30 days before an annual renewal.

4. Standard listening looks back 7 days#

Standard searches the past 7 days and compares 2 searches. Professional searches 30 days, and Enterprise holds 13 months.

What this means for you: if you report mentions monthly, Standard misses 3 of every 4 weeks unless you export a search each week.

5. The trial caps posts at 10 to 20 a day#

Trial accounts post 10 to 20 times a day per organization, and bulk scheduling stays off until you pay.

What this means for you: use the trial to check account connections, the inbox and a 7-day listening search. Load bulk schedules after you subscribe.

Hootsuite Alternatives Compared on Price#

For a Hootsuite alternative, match the tool to the gap you hit: price per seat, approvals, listening depth or finding buyers. I checked these prices on Oct 15, 2026:

Sprout Social and Agorapulse sell listening as a paid add-on, and Sprout Standard also includes keyword monitoring. Agorapulse ended its Free plan on Jul 6, 2026, and what stays free is Archie, its AI content tool (help).

Hootsuite Alternative: CommunityTracker#

Source: CommunityTracker homepage, https://www.communitytracker.ai/, captured Oct 15, 2026.

My #1 alternative is CommunityTracker if your gap is finding buyers, not publishing.

It covers a job Hootsuite leaves out: finding people in community threads who ask for a product like yours, then reaching them.

It monitors Reddit, LinkedIn, X, Slack communities, Discord, GitHub, Hacker News, Product Hunt, Dev.to and Indie Hackers. It scores each post for buying intent and runs outreach to the author from the same tool (communitytracker.ai).

Features#

  • Intent scoring: every post gets a buying-intent score, and the tool drafts replies.

  • Enrichment: one click adds the author's email, LinkedIn profile and company data.

  • Outreach: email sequences, LinkedIn DMs, Reddit replies or AI voice calls.

  • CRM: leads push to HubSpot.

  • Team approvals: admins can require sign-off on outreach messages before they send.

  • Analytics: share of voice on Pro, plus community intelligence and AI visibility on Advanced.

Pricing#

All paid plans bill monthly, with no long-term contract, and you can cancel anytime. I checked the plans at communitytracker.ai/pricing on Oct 15, 2026:

  • Free ($0): 1 keyword, Reddit, daily alerts, basic analytics.

  • Starter ($39/month): 4 keywords on Reddit, LinkedIn, Hacker News and GitHub, 5,000 mentions, 100 warm emails a month, a response generator.

  • Pro ($99/month): 10 keywords, all communities, unlimited mentions and warm emails, AI scoring, share of voice, daily Slack alerts.

  • Advanced ($199/month): 20 keywords, community intelligence, a share of voice exporter, AI visibility.

Pro costs the same $99 as one Hootsuite Standard seat and works out to $9.90 per keyword.

Pros#

  • Unlimited mentions on Pro, so a broad keyword adds no overage.

  • It covers Slack communities and Discord.

  • Enrichment and outreach sit in the same tool as monitoring.

  • A free plan with 1 keyword on Reddit.

Cons#

  • No publishing: no plan card lists post scheduling, a content calendar or an inbox for your own brand accounts.

  • Alert speed: Pro and Advanced send daily Slack alerts.

  • Sources: CommunityTracker does not track podcasts or newsletters, and its blog, news and web coverage is partial.

  • Plan gates: Free covers 1 keyword on Reddit only. Starter covers Reddit, LinkedIn, Hacker News and GitHub, not X or Slack.

  • Plan access: no plan card names enrichment, AI voice calls or HubSpot sync, so ask which plan includes them before you pay.

  • Annual pricing: CommunityTracker does not publish annual prices.

CommunityTracker has no readable user reviews on G2, Capterra, TrustRadius, Trustpilot, Product Hunt, AppSumo or SaaSHub.

Summary#

Pick CommunityTracker when the leads you want sit in Reddit, Slack or Hacker News threads. It schedules no posts, so a team that also publishes keeps Hootsuite or Buffer next to it. It has no third-party reviews to read yet, so run the free 1-keyword Reddit plan on your own keyword before you pay.

Hootsuite Alternative: Buffer#

Source: Buffer homepage, https://buffer.com/, captured Oct 15, 2026.

Buffer prices by channel instead of by seat. If the Hootsuite seat count is the problem, this is the model to compare.

Features#

  • Publishing: a queue, a visual calendar, threads for X, Bluesky, Threads and Mastodon, first-comment scheduling and mobile reminders for Instagram, TikTok and YouTube.

  • Community: comment replies on 10 networks, AI replies and saved replies.

  • Analytics: insights, CSV and PDF exports, and branded reports on Team.

  • Team: unlimited users, approval workflows and access controls on Team.

  • API: API keys on every plan, from 3,000 requests a month on Free.

Pricing#

Buffer bills per connected channel, and the per-channel rate falls as you add channels. Annual billing gives a 20% discount. Prices from buffer.com/pricing on Oct 15, 2026:

  • Free ($0): 3 channels, 10 scheduled posts per channel, 1 user.

  • Essentials ($6 per channel monthly, $5 yearly): unlimited scheduled posts, 1 user, advanced analytics.

  • Team ($12 per channel monthly, $10 yearly): unlimited users, approval workflows, access levels, branded reports.

Ten channels on Team cost $100 a month billed yearly. When you switch billing frequency, Buffer applies prorations or refunds automatically, and the 14-day trial drops to Free if you add no payment.

Pros#

  • Unlimited users on Team, against one paid seat per person on Hootsuite.

  • Approvals come at $10 per channel, where Hootsuite asks $399 per seat.

  • A free plan with 3 channels.

  • API keys on every plan, starting at 3,000 requests a month on Free.

Cons#

  • No plan lists social listening or competitor benchmarks.

  • Essentials allows 1 user.

  • The plan list names comment replies and does not list DMs.

On Trustpilot, Buffer holds 3.9 from 130 reviews (checked Oct 15, 2026).

Summary#

Three people on 10 channels pay $100 a month on Buffer Team and $297 on Hootsuite Standard, and Buffer's price already includes approvals. If your monthly report compares you with rivals, though, Buffer has no listening or benchmarks to build it from.

Hootsuite Alternative: Sprout Social#

Source: Sprout Social homepage, https://sproutsocial.com/, captured Oct 15, 2026.

Sprout Social charges per seat like Hootsuite, at $199 a seat billed annually on Standard. You pick it when review management and an API matter more than price.

Features#

  • Inbox: a consolidated Smart Inbox with collaboration tools on Standard, and sentiment on Advanced.

  • Monitoring: keyword and location monitoring, with 10 brand keywords per group on Standard.

  • AI: the Trellis AI agent with 100 credits per seat a month.

  • Reviews: review management from Standard up.

  • Add-ons: Sprout sells Listening and Premium Analytics as separate add-ons on Standard and up.

Pricing#

Sprout bills annually up front at the prices below, and monthly billing costs more per month. Prices from sproutsocial.com/pricing on Oct 15, 2026:

  • Essentials ($79 per seat/month billed annually, $99 monthly): 5 social profiles, optimal send times, post reporting.

  • Standard ($199 per seat/month billed annually): 5 profiles, Smart Inbox, keyword monitoring, review management.

  • Professional ($299 per seat/month billed annually): unlimited profiles, message tagging, competitor and paid insights.

  • Advanced ($399 per seat/month billed annually): the Sprout API, helpdesk integrations, spike alerts, team reports.

The trial runs 30 days with no card. Three seats with unlimited profiles cost 3 x $299 = $897 a month billed annually, against $597 on Hootsuite Professional.

Pros#

  • A 30-day trial, double Hootsuite's 14 days.

  • Review management on Standard, and the API in a listed plan (Advanced).

Cons#

  • Standard stops at 5 profiles, against 10 on Hootsuite Standard.

  • Full listening is an add-on.

  • Trustpilot shows 1.8 from 88 reviews (checked Oct 15, 2026).

Summary#

I would pick Sprout over Hootsuite only if you answer reviews next to social posts or need the API. On unlimited profiles, Sprout Professional asks $299 a seat and Hootsuite Professional $199, both billed annually, so everyone else pays $100 more per seat each month for the same profile count.

Hootsuite Alternative: Agorapulse#

Source: Agorapulse homepage, https://www.agorapulse.com/, captured Oct 15, 2026.

On Agorapulse, every plan from Standard to Advanced connects 10 profiles, and each plan publishes a first-response time.

Features#

  • Publishing: unlimited scheduling, a unified calendar, first comments and threads, and link tracking.

  • Inbox: messages, organic comments and Google Business Profile reviews share one inbox from Standard, so a Google review gets its reply in the same queue as a DM. Ad comments arrive on Professional.

  • Moderation: rule-based moderation that hides, labels, assigns or deletes incoming items comes with every plan. Each self-serve plan gets 1 rule per profile, and Custom removes that limit.

  • Team: post and inbox assignments on Professional, and labels plus saved replies on Advanced.

  • Reporting: branded report exports on Standard, and ROI, ads and competitor reports on Advanced.

  • Support: first response under 6 hours on Standard, under 2 hours on Professional and under 1 hour on Advanced.

Pricing#

Agorapulse sells per user, and annual billing saves up to 20%. Prices from agorapulse.com/pricing on Oct 15, 2026:

  • Standard ($79 per user/month billed annually, $99 monthly): 10 profiles, unlimited posts, one inbox that handles Google review replies, 1 moderation rule per profile, branded reports, 6 months of data.

  • Professional ($119 billed annually, $149 monthly): link in bio, ad comments, assignments, 12 months of data.

  • Advanced ($149 billed annually, $199 monthly): labels, saved replies, shared calendars, ROI and competitor reports, 24 months of data.

  • Custom (quote): unlimited profiles, SSO, multi-step approvals, API and sentiment.

The trial runs 30 days with no card and no automatic charge. Agorapulse sells Advanced Listening as a separate add-on through a demo.

Pros#

  • Standard costs $20 less per user than Hootsuite Standard on annual billing.

  • Agorapulse publishes monthly prices for every self-serve plan.

  • A 30-day trial with no automatic charge.

  • Google review replies sit on the $79 Standard plan, next to your comments and DMs.

Cons#

  • 10 profiles on every self-serve plan, so profile 11 needs a custom quote.

  • Listening costs extra, as the Advanced Listening add-on.

  • Data retention stops at 6 months on Standard.

Agorapulse scores 4.0 from 57 reviews on Trustpilot (checked Oct 15, 2026).

Summary#

If 10 profiles cover you and you want the monthly rate before checkout, Agorapulse Standard saves you $20 per seat a month against Hootsuite Standard. Profile 11 is where that stops, because every self-serve plan caps at 10 and the next step is a custom quote. If your local pages collect Google reviews, Standard lets you answer them from the inbox your team already works in.

Final Verdict: Is Hootsuite Worth It in 2026?#

Hootsuite earns its $99 seat when you, or a team, publish to 10 brand accounts or fewer across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X and TikTok and want scheduling, one inbox, 7-day listening and 5-competitor benchmarks on that one seat. A desk with only a few channels can't justify $99 a month while Buffer Essentials costs $5 per channel a month billed yearly. For buyers in Reddit, LinkedIn and Slack threads, switch to CommunityTracker Pro, which tracks 10 keywords for $99 a month.

The answer flips at three triggers: account 11, a second approver, and a renewal date you did not write down.

Buy Hootsuite if:

  • You run 5 to 10 brand accounts alone: one Standard seat covers publishing, inbox, listening and benchmarks for $1,188 a year.

  • Your support team answers DMs on Meta, WhatsApp and Google Business Profile: Nest puts those 8 channels in one inbox on Standard.

  • You report against competitors each month: Standard benchmarks 5, and Professional benchmarks 20.

Skip Hootsuite if:

  • You have 3 or more people posting: Buffer Team runs 10 channels with unlimited users for $100 a month billed yearly.

  • You need sign-off on every post: approvals start at $399 a seat on Advanced.

  • You want leads from threads: Hootsuite publishes to your accounts. Finding buyers in Reddit or Slack threads needs a tool built for that.

  • You cannot commit for a year: annual fees are non-refundable.

I would buy Hootsuite Standard for a one-person social desk at a brand with 6 to 10 accounts and a monthly competitor report. I would not buy it for a 4-person team that needs approvals, because that team pays $19,152 a year on Advanced.

Next step: start the 14-day trial, connect your 10 accounts, and run one 7-day listening search on your brand before you enter a card.

FAQs#

1. Is Hootsuite worth it in 2026? Yes, when you publish to 10 or fewer brand accounts and want the calendar, the inbox, 7-day listening and 5-competitor benchmarks on one $99 Standard seat. With only a few channels, you pay for a desk you barely fill, and Buffer Essentials charges $5 per channel a month on yearly billing. Finding buyers in Reddit, LinkedIn and Slack threads is a different job, and CommunityTracker Pro does it for $99 a month.

2. How much does Hootsuite cost? Standard costs $99, Professional $199 and Advanced $399 per user per month, billed annually (checked Oct 2026). Enterprise is a custom quote. Monthly billing costs more per user, and Hootsuite shows that rate at checkout. Multiply by your headcount before you compare tools.

3. Does Hootsuite have a free plan? No. Hootsuite offers a 14-day trial on Standard, Professional and Advanced with no card, and it does not charge you when the trial ends. Trial accounts post 10 to 20 times a day, so use the 14 days to connect every account you plan to manage.

4. Can I get a refund from Hootsuite? The self-serve terms make paid fees non-refundable, and a canceled plan runs to the end of its term. You can still file through its refund form, Hootsuite reviews each request, and an approved refund takes 5 to 10 business days. Keep your invoice number and card details ready when you file.

5. How do I cancel Hootsuite? A Super Admin goes to Account, Plan and billing, then Manage my subscription. The plan stays active until the paid period ends. If you bought the plan on a phone, you cancel it in the App Store or Google Play. Cancel at least 30 days before an annual renewal.

6. Does Hootsuite include social listening? Yes. Standard searches the past 7 days for brand, competitor and hashtag mentions with sentiment, Professional searches 30 days and exports results, and Enterprise holds 13 months (checked Oct 2026). A search on your brand name during the trial shows you the volume before you pay.

7. Hootsuite vs Buffer: which costs less for a team? Buffer costs less once you add people. Three people on 10 accounts pay $297 a month on Hootsuite Standard and $100 on Buffer Team billed yearly, with approvals included (checked Oct 2026). Pick Hootsuite if you need listening and competitor benchmarks in the same tool.
