YouScan Review 2026: Who Should Pay $499 a Month

Of the 125 YouScan reviews on Software Advice (checked Oct 16, 2026), 39 come from marketing and advertising staff and 10 from market research. If your work looks like theirs, the topic count sets your bill before anything else. Valdir U., at a market research firm, wrote: "The number of queries (in all plans) is very limited, which implies combining several projects into one query" (Software Advice, Jun 2026).

Starter holds 3 topics, and each one stops at 5,000 new mentions a month. Francisco M. saw that cap drop: "It used to hace 10.000 and suddenly they changed it to 5.000" (Software Advice, May 2026). YouScan publishes one price and opens a trial only after a demo call.

My view: count your brands, competitors and campaigns before you book that call, because YouScan sells topics and charges nothing for seats.

This review covers the 4 plans, the paid modules, what 137 users say, 6 limits to check before you sign and 4 alternatives.

TL;DR#

  • Product and owner: YouScan is a social listening platform run by YouScan Limited in Nicosia, Cyprus, with offices in New York, Mexico City, Limassol and Warsaw. It collects mentions from social networks, blogs, forums, review sites and news, and it reads logos and scenes in images.

  • The one public price: Starter costs $499 a month billed annually, or $5,988 a year. It gives 3 fixed topics, 5,000 new mentions per topic per month and 30 days of history, with unlimited users.

  • Plans with a quote: Listen and Analyze start at 5 topics and grow in steps of 5. Listen allows 10,000 new mentions per topic and Analyze 100,000. Enterprise is custom. None of the three shows a price.

  • Add-ons on top: Visual Data Analysis, Audience Insights, Audio Monitoring, the API, extra dashboards and 9 more modules carry extra fees that YouScan does not publish.

  • Cost per 1,000 mentions: $33.27 on Starter, against $9.40 on Mentionlytics Essential for the same 15,000 mentions.

  • Scores: 4.9 on Software Advice from 125 reviews (Capterra UK and GetApp show the same 125), 3.6 on Trustpilot from 12, and 0 written reviews on TrustRadius, all checked Oct 16, 2026.

  • Who should buy: Buy YouScan if you run a brand or insight team whose brief needs logo recognition in images, TikTok coverage or audio transcripts, and you can price the add-ons in writing before you sign. For text-only brand monitoring, Mentionlytics Essential covers 15,000 mentions for $141 a month billed yearly. If you want to spot people asking for a product like yours on Reddit, LinkedIn or Slack, CommunityTracker Pro costs $99 a month.

How I Analyzed YouScan#

Data checked: Oct 16, 2026 (IST). Every price, plan limit, policy and rating in this review comes from what I checked that day: YouScan pricing, the YouScan Terms of Service (effective Sep 30, 2026), the YouScan help center, three review sites and the pricing of four alternatives.

  • User reviews: all 125 on Software Advice and all 12 on Trustpilot, 137 in total. Capterra UK and GetApp show the same 125 reviews from one Gartner pool, so I count them once. I used five review sites: Software Advice, Capterra UK, GetApp, Trustpilot and TrustRadius. TrustRadius has 0 written reviews. The reviews run from November 2018 to October 2026. I quote 28 of them, in 7 liked and 8 disliked points.

  • Plans and terms: I checked YouScan pricing in USD and read the plan list in section 2.6 of the YouScan Terms of Service, which defines Starter, Listen, Analyze and Enterprise with topic and mention limits.

  • Help center: I read 13 YouScan help articles, among them the mention limit, service levels by plan, card payments, channels and social account authorization.

  • Rival tools: I loaded the pricing pages of CommunityTracker, Mentionlytics, Brand24 and Brandwatch on the same day.

  • Quoting: each quote below links to the page where the review sits, copies the reviewer's words as written (typos included), and carries the name and month the site shows. Software Advice gives no per-review links, so those quotes link to the profile's review page.

YouScan#

Source: YouScan homepage, youscan.io, captured Oct 16, 2026 with the cookie notice closed and the "Insights Copilot 2026" promo bar left in view. In view: the site menu, the headline "AI-powered Social Listening for Deep Consumer Insights", a "Try YouScan" button and a row of client logos.

YouScan started in 2009, employs 70+ people and has served 5,000+ brands. It added image recognition, which it calls Visual Insights, in 2018. The contracting company is YouScan Limited, registered in Cyprus.

You set up a topic for each thing you want to follow: a brand, a competitor, a campaign or a category. Each topic holds a Boolean query, and YouScan fills it with matching posts from its database, which covers more than 500,000 sources and takes in 500 million mentions a day.

  • Social networks: X, TikTok, YouTube, Reddit, Telegram, Twitch, Facebook pages and Instagram, with Facebook and Instagram behind an authorization step.

  • Open web: blogs, forums and online news.

  • Review platforms: App Store, TripAdvisor, Trustpilot, Amazon, Booking.com, OpenTable and Yelp, added as channels.

  • Images and audio: logos, objects and scenes in pictures through Visual Insights, and spoken mentions in video captions through Audio Monitoring, both paid modules.

95% to 97% of posts and comments reach YouScan within 2 minutes to 2 hours of publishing. Social posts arrive first, and forums, blogs and news take longer.

Channels let you pull every post from a set page, whatever your query says. A topic can hold up to 200 channels. Facebook allows public Pages only (no groups or personal profiles), and TikTok gives you 5 channels free before you ask support for more.

Features#

  • Every YouScan plan: unlimited users, unlimited rules and alerts, unlimited social searches, aspect sentiment, trend detection, word clouds, Insights Copilot, 1 custom dashboard and the Mention Wall for office screens.

  • Insights Copilot: an AI agent built on ChatGPT that answers questions about your topics, applies filters for you and turns the answer into a shareable report. Starter gets 100 credits a month (about 10 questions), and Listen, Analyze and Enterprise get 200 (about 20).

  • Rules and tags: rules tag mentions, set sentiment and send alerts on their own, and spam filtering plus duplicate merging cut repeat posts.

  • Messenger and CRM links: Starter picks 1 of Slack, Microsoft Teams or Telegram. Listen adds all three, and Analyze adds HelpDesk and CRM connections.

  • Paid modules (section 2.6.6): Visual Data Analysis, Audience Insights, Audio Monitoring, the API, Advanced API and Webhook, Advanced Custom Dashboards, Advanced Insights Copilot (up to 10,000 credits, about 1,000 questions), Additional Channels, a branded Mention Wall, Conversation Insights, Extended Historical Data, Smart Tags, Topic Permissions and a Tailored Intelligence Module.

Features, my read: Starter gives you the full source list and the AI agent, but the logo, audience and audio tools that YouScan leads with on its homepage all sit outside every plan. Price the module you came for before you compare YouScan with anyone.

Pricing#

YouScan prices by topic. A topic is one search query, and each plan caps how many new mentions a topic can collect in a month. Users never change the price.

YouScan publishes one price, checked in USD on Oct 16, 2026: Starter at $499 a month, billed annually, with EUR and GBP as the other currencies. Listen, Analyze and Enterprise sit behind a demo request under the heading "Unlimited plans".

Source: YouScan pricing page in USD, youscan.io, captured Oct 16, 2026 with the cookie notice closed. The plan is called "Starter 3" and costs $499; Listen, Analyze and Enterprise sit under "Unlimited plans" on the right.

  • Starter ($499/month, billed annually): 3 fixed topics, 5,000 new mentions per topic per month (15,000 in total), 30 days of history, Copilot at about 10 questions a month, 1 integration and 1 custom dashboard.

  • Listen (price on request): 5 topics to start, more in steps of 5, 10,000 new mentions per topic, unlimited history, Copilot at about 20 questions, Slack, Teams and Telegram, and a named Customer Success Manager.

  • Analyze (price on request): 5 topics to start in steps of 5, 100,000 new mentions per topic, sampling on topics up to 10 million mentions a month, unlimited history, topic permissions, HelpDesk and CRM integrations, and a dedicated CSM with quarterly outreach.

  • Enterprise (price on request): unlimited topics under one account-wide monthly mention limit, history capped at 3 times the yearly new-mention allowance (10 times with the Extended Historical Data module), and monthly CSM check-ins.

Starter works out to $33.27 per 1,000 mentions and $166.33 per topic each month. On a 5-topic Listen plan, the cap rises to 50,000 new mentions a month, and Analyze reaches 500,000.

For example, a brand that tracks itself, 2 competitors and 1 campaign needs 4 topics. Starter holds 3 and cannot add a fourth, so that team needs a Listen quote from day 1.

The billing terms that move money:

  • Trial: you request a demo, and YouScan sets up a trial account for you. YouScan publishes no trial length, and the account stays off after the trial until you pay in full (section 6.2).

  • Payment: card through Stripe or bank wire. YouScan invoices in advance, and you prepay 100% of the fee (terms, section 6.2).

  • Refund policy: none. Section 6.1 calls payment obligations non-cancellable and all fees non-refundable, and section 5.2.13 adds that stopping use earns no prorated refund. EU consumers keep a 14-day statutory cooling-off right (section 14.4).

  • Renewal by notice: the agreement renews for a term of the same length after YouScan sends notice, and using the service past the end of the term counts as consent (section 6.5). A saved card is charged at the end of each cycle until support removes it.

  • Late payment: YouScan can block the account after 5 days, and the blocked days still count toward your term. Interest runs at 0.1% a day, capped at 10% (sections 7.2 and 7.3).

  • Plan changes: every change needs a new Order Form, and section 2.7 prohibits moving to a plan with fewer topics or fewer functions.

  • Country: the license covers the country where your company is registered. A branch in another country needs its own subscription (section 2.8).

  • Onboarding: account setup is not part of any plan, except 1 topic on Analyze and up to 2 on Enterprise. Onboarding packages cover up to 5, 25 or 50 topics, at prices agreed separately.

Price, my read: $499 is the entry fee for the YouScan source list with 3 topics, and the real bill starts once you add Listen topics or a paid module. Ask for the Order Form with every module priced, and sign for the fewest topics you can live with, because the terms let you add topics but not remove them.

Pros#

  • Unlimited users on every plan, so a 30-person team pays the same as a team of 2.

  • Review sites, Telegram, Twitch and TikTok sit in the standard source list, with 5 TikTok channels free.

  • Insights Copilot comes with every plan, at about 10 questions a month on Starter and 20 on the others.

  • Listen and Analyze keep collecting after a spike passes the topic limit, and a spike in one topic leaves the others untouched.

  • History has no time limit on Listen and Analyze.

  • Analyze and Enterprise get a 30-minute first-response target during support hours, which run Monday to Friday.

Cons#

  • Only Starter has a public price, at $33.27 per 1,000 mentions.

  • Starter has 3 fixed topics and 30 days of history, and YouScan usually does not consider new source requests from Starter accounts.

  • Visual Data Analysis, Audience Insights, Audio Monitoring and the API cost extra, with no price list.

  • Fees are non-refundable, and the terms prohibit downgrades.

  • Instagram keyword matches need a hashtag in the post, and Meta authorization expires every 60 days.

  • YouScan offers no monthly billing on its price list.

  • YouScan's price list and its terms disagree on 3 points: "Unlimited mentions" in the header against 5,000 per topic on Starter, WhatsApp against Telegram as the Starter integration, and unlimited Copilot questions against 200 credits on Enterprise.

Summary#

YouScan charges for topics and modules, and each topic carries its own mention cap. Write your topic list and the one module your brief depends on, and get both priced on an Order Form before the demo ends.

What users liked#

  1. TikTok and sources other tools skip. Jack F., at an 11 to 50 person market research firm, writes: "We originally subscribed to YouScan for its TikTok data, this is where it helps us the most" (Software Advice, May 2026). Valdir U. writes that "YouScan offers more information sources that are not available in other tools, like TikTok content and the ability of integrating Google Maps reviews, among others." Shea F. picked YouScan for "deep reseach capabilities in Central Asia, a region that is not well covered under other social listening tools" (Software Advice, Aug 2025).

  2. Logos found in pictures. Sage S. writes: "The biggest game-changer for us has been the logo recognition feature." Moa W. needed it for a sponsorship brief: "Our client brief explicitly included logo detection around series of sport events, and it was never going to be something we could sidestep" (Software Advice, Jun 2026). Jane D. adds: "We were also impressed with how the system detects logos in the images" (Software Advice, Jun 2023).

  3. Support and account managers. Ann S. writes: "The support and customer service is top-notch, as well" (Software Advice, Apr 2026). Erik S., in hospitality, says his account manager "recently implemented a custom rule to exclude neutral ratings and non-commented reviews" (Software Advice, Apr 2026). Francisco M. calls the support "top-class."

  4. Answers from Insights Copilot. Lubica J., at a consumer goods company, writes that "Insights Copilot helps team to get to insights faster and improves the overall quality of outputs" (Software Advice, Mar 2026). Alessandra P. writes that "the Insight Co-pilot feature helps quickly retrieve information and supports high-quality qualitative analysis" (Software Advice, Mar 2026).

  5. A price below enterprise suites. Cesar C. writes: "The solution is as good as if not better than most enterprise listening tools and their pricing is even better" (Software Advice, Jul 2026). Shea F. calls it "the best 'bang for your buck' tool on the social listening market right now." Sarah S. writes: "The starter plan is a great value!" (Software Advice, Sep 2025).

  6. Spoken mentions in video. Silvia M. writes in Spanish about "Su capacidad para detectar menciones en audio, que es un gran plus y aporta mucho al seguimiento de la conversación en TikTok y Youtube" (its ability to detect mentions in audio, a big plus for following the conversation on TikTok and YouTube) (Software Advice, Apr 2026). Dana H., at a 10,000+ employee food and beverage company, lists "Visual and audio monitoring" first among her pros (Software Advice, Aug 2025).

  7. Filters and tags that clean the feed. Erik S. writes that "the rule-based tagging system makes it easy to clean up data." Oleksandr K., at a 5,001 to 10,000 person retailer, praises "Convenient filters that allow you to work with different data segments within the same topic" (Software Advice, Apr 2023).

What users disliked#

  1. Too few topics. Valdir U. writes that the query limit "is not ideal for a medium or large operation, at least for agencies." Shea F. writes: "It would be nice if the topics included subtopics, so writers do not have to manage such large queries." Marcelo T. names "La capacidad limitada para crear nuevos tópicos" (the limited capacity to create new topics) (Software Advice, Jul 2025).

  2. A mention cap per topic. Francisco M. writes that Starter "used to hace 10.000 and suddenly they changed it to 5.000." An unnamed reviewer in October 2026 writes: "No me gusta que sea por limite de menciones su uso, ya que siento que me limita mucho en la busqueda de tendencias" (I don't like that use depends on a mention limit, since it limits my search for trends a lot) (Software Advice, Oct 2026). Filipe P. writes that "The plans could be more flexible in terms of pricing and number of mentions" (Software Advice, Feb 2026).

  3. Key tools sold as add-ons. Sage S. wishes features "were inclusive with builds within that." Maggie W., in marketing and advertising, writes: "The only thing I wish for more of was an understanding of which features need to be add-ons and topics" (Software Advice, May 2026). Victoria P. writes: "Varios add-on que son necesarios, no están incluidos en el plan" (several add-ons you need are not included in the plan) (Software Advice, May 2025).

  4. Slow collection and slow backfills. Laura P. writes that collection "Puede demorarse incluso 1 día en traer la información" (it can take up to 1 day to bring in the data), which is too long in a crisis (Software Advice, Aug 2026). Jack F. writes: "we have run into some challenges with the time required for historical collection." Priscila S. adds that "collecting historical data with high mentions can take a full day" (Software Advice, Feb 2023).

  5. Gaps on Instagram, LinkedIn and Facebook. Alessandra P. writes that Instagram monitoring "depends on the presence of hashtags in posts and therefore narrows the overall monitoring scope." Ann S. finds it "inconvenient to have to re-authorize social media account access every three months" and calls that understandable. Silvia M. writes: "La cobertura de LinkedIn es muy acotada" (LinkedIn coverage is very narrow).

  6. Matches that need cleaning. Cristian G. writes that "sometimes it tracks a lot of garbage or not related to the product, and debugging this takes a lot of time" (Software Advice, Apr 2025). Giancarlo G. writes: "I am searching for cars data, and gives some bikes data too" (Software Advice, Feb 2026). Lubica J. finds that "Visual insights often are too sensitive when reading the OCR and with that we usually get a lot of noise."

  7. A learning curve tied to Boolean. Dana H. writes: "Platform has a steep learning curve if you aren't in it every day. Need to be very strong at Boolean to set up topics." Sarah S. writes that "the UX isn't the best, and it can be a little clunky." She adds: "I also wish there were a mobile app."

  8. A price that small teams feel. Tomas C. writes that "Pricing can also be a consideration for smaller teams" (Software Advice, Jun 2026). Edid S. writes that it "Requiere una inversión anticipada algo elevada" (requires a fairly high upfront investment) (Software Advice, May 2025). On Trustpilot, Alexandre Gonçalves gave 1 star and wrote: "Our company regretted $400 spent. Fair price - at most 50 bucks a month" (Trustpilot, Feb 15, 2024).

YouScan replied to that Trustpilot review on Apr 23, 2024 that it offered no plan priced at $400 and could not find the reviewer in its customer list. Starter now costs $499 a month.

Source: Trustpilot, 1-star review by Alexandre Gonçalves (Feb 15, 2024) below the star breakdown, https://www.trustpilot.com/review/youscan.io, captured Oct 16, 2026. The page answered HTTP 403 but rendered.

How much weight each YouScan rating can carry#

Five facts change how far you can trust the 4.9:

  • Age of the pool: of the 125 Gartner reviews, 26 date from 2026, 36 from 2025 and 35 from 2023, so most describe the product of the last 3 years. The newest dates from October 2026.

  • Bursts: 14 reviews carry the date November 2018, and 12 carry May 2025. YouScan replied to 11 of the 125, all between June 2023 and April 2024.

  • Review source labels: 111 of the 125 carry an "Organic" label, 7 say "Vendor-referred" and 7 say "Incentivized".

  • Who writes them: 39 of the 125 reviewers list marketing and advertising as their industry and 10 list market research, so agency and research workloads shape the topic-count complaints.

  • Trustpilot: 12 reviews, none in the last 12 months. Two of them, posted on Jun 23 and Jul 12, 2023 under different names, carry the same text, and the second one keeps the quotation marks around it. The 1-star reviewer of February 2024 points to the same pattern.

Source: Trustpilot, YouScan profile with the 3.6 TrustScore, 12 reviews and "0 reviews in the last 12 months", https://www.trustpilot.com/review/youscan.io, captured Oct 16, 2026.

Reading the scores together: take the 4.9 as a verdict on support, sources and image work from teams who already pay. Weigh the cons that repeat from 2023 to 2026 (topic counts, mention caps, add-ons and slow backfills), because the 2026 terms still produce all four.

6 YouScan Limits to Check Before You Sign#

1. Starter caps each of its 3 topics at 5,000 new mentions a month#

Starter gives 3 fixed topics with 5,000 new mentions each, and the count resets on the 1st of the month. The archived plan that Starter replaced allowed 10,000 per topic, which is the cut Francisco M. describes.

For example, a brand topic that collects 250 mentions a day reaches 5,000 on day 20.

What to ask: during the trial, read each topic's daily count in Account Info and multiply by 30. Any topic above 5,000 points you to Listen.

2. Topics, not seats, decide the plan, and Starter cannot add one#

Starter holds 3 topics with no option to add more. Listen and Analyze start at 5 and grow in steps of 5, so a sixth topic means paying for 10.

For example, an agency with 4 clients that tracks each client and one rival needs 8 topics, which means a 10-topic Listen quote.

Plan your topics: list every brand, competitor and campaign before the demo, and merge competitors into one topic where your reports allow it.

3. The features on the homepage cost extra#

YouScan sells 14 paid modules under its terms, among them Visual Data Analysis, Audience Insights, Audio Monitoring and the API, and none has a public price. YouScan puts Visual Insights and Audience Insights inside its "Unlimited plans" price card, while its site menu and terms treat both as add-ons.

Get it in writing: ask for an Order Form that names each module and its fee, and check it against section 2.6.6 of the terms.

4. You cannot get money back or move down a plan#

All fees are non-refundable, you prepay 100%, and section 2.7 prohibits moving to a plan with fewer topics or functions.

For example, a team that signs for a 10-topic Listen plan and uses 6 still pays for 10 for the full term.

Your safeguard: sign for the smallest topic count you need, and add topics later through a new Order Form, which the terms allow.

5. Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn need authorization and give partial data#

Instagram keyword matches need a hashtag in the post, and the Channels feature pulls full feeds only after you authorize a business or creator account through a linked Facebook Page. Meta authorization lasts 60 days and LinkedIn's 365 days. For a LinkedIn page you do not own, YouScan collects posts only.

Day-1 setup: authorize your Facebook Page and Instagram business account on the first trial day, add competitor Instagram accounts as channels, and set a calendar reminder every 50 days to renew.

6. Starter keeps 30 days of history, and backfills can take a day#

Starter collects history for the last 30 days only. Listen and Analyze collect unlimited history, and reviewers report that large backfills take up to a full day.

Schedule the backfill: if your brief needs a year-on-year view, ask for a Listen trial and start the historical collection on day 1, so the data is ready before your first report.

How the Alternatives Compare on Price and Coverage#

Each alternative closes one YouScan gap: buyers in community threads, a lower price per mention, a refund window, or a bigger archive. Entry plans, priced on Oct 16, 2026:

YouScan Alternative: CommunityTracker#

Source: CommunityTracker homepage, https://www.communitytracker.ai/, captured Oct 15, 2026 for an earlier review and reused here, with names and emails in the product mockup blurred. The pricing below was rechecked on Oct 16, 2026.

My #1 alternative is CommunityTracker if the posts you care about are people asking for a tool like yours in Reddit, LinkedIn, Slack or Discord threads, and you want to reply to them.

YouScan reports what a market says about a brand. CommunityTracker looks for posts with buying intent in your category, scores each one, finds the author's contact details and runs the outreach from the same screen.

It watches Reddit, LinkedIn, X, Slack, Discord, Hacker News, GitHub and Indie Hackers, and covers blogs and news only in part (communitytracker.ai/pricing).

Features#

  • Intent signals: AI flags posts that ask for a tool, an alternative or a fix in your niche and scores them for buying intent.

  • Contact enrichment: one click adds a verified email, LinkedIn profile, company and job title for the post's author.

  • Messaging: email sequences, LinkedIn requests and DMs, Reddit replies and AI voice calls, each based on the original post.

  • HubSpot sync: leads move to HubSpot with the thread attached.

  • Share of voice: share of voice on Pro, plus community intelligence, a share of voice exporter and AI visibility on Advanced.

Pricing#

One monthly price per plan, no long-term contract, cancellation at any time and a free trial on Pro, as listed on Oct 16, 2026:

  • Free ($0): 1 Reddit keyword with a daily alert.

  • Starter ($39/month): 4 keywords across Reddit, LinkedIn, Hacker News and GitHub, 5,000 mentions and up to 100 warm emails a month.

  • Pro ($99/month): 10 keywords on every supported community, unlimited mentions and warm emails, AI scoring, share of voice and a daily Slack alert.

  • Advanced ($199/month, sold by the sales team): 20 keywords plus community intelligence, AI visibility and a share of voice export.

Pro costs $400 a month less than YouScan Starter and has no mention cap.

Pros#

  • Pro has no mention cap, where YouScan Starter stops at 5,000 per topic.

  • Slack and Discord communities sit in its source list.

  • Finding a buyer, getting the contact and sending the first message happen in one tool.

  • Monthly billing with no contract, against YouScan's annual prepay.

Cons#

  • No image or audio data: it reads text posts only, with no logo recognition and no video transcripts.

  • Narrow PR coverage: news and blogs only in part, and no review sites or TikTok.

  • Alert timing: Slack alerts arrive once a day on Pro and Advanced.

  • Missing on the $39 plan: Starter doesn't include X or Slack.

  • Tiers not named: CommunityTracker offers enrichment, AI voice calls and the HubSpot push, but no plan names them, so ask which tier carries each one.

You won't find user reviews to read for CommunityTracker yet: G2, Capterra, TrustRadius, Trustpilot, Product Hunt, AppSumo and SaaSHub carry none.

Summary#

Use CommunityTracker next to YouScan, or in place of it, when the goal is pipeline from community threads rather than a brand health report. Start with the free Reddit keyword and count the posts in week one that you would answer.

YouScan Alternative: Mentionlytics#

Source: Mentionlytics homepage, mentionlytics.com, captured Oct 15, 2026 for an earlier review and reused here, with the top promo bar and cookie banner dismissed. Prices below were rechecked on Oct 16, 2026.

Mentionlytics publishes all 6 plan prices, bills monthly or yearly, and opens a 14-day trial with no card. For a text-first brand monitoring brief, that removes the demo step YouScan requires.

Features#

  • Coverage: news, blogs, forums, review sites and 11 social networks, including TikTok, Threads and Bluesky, with Telegram and podcasts on Pro.

  • Listening tools: AI sentiment and Boolean search on every plan, competitor monitoring from Essential, and share of voice and reports from Advanced.

  • Images and video: AI image recognition and video and audio analysis on Business.

  • Scheduler: a scheduler with drafts and a calendar on every plan.

Pricing#

Mentionlytics prices, checked Oct 16, 2026:

  • Basic ($49/month billed yearly, $59 billed monthly): 3 keyword rules, 5,000 mentions, 2 users.

  • Essential ($141/month billed yearly, $169 billed monthly): 10 rules, 15,000 mentions, 10 users, competitor monitoring.

  • Advanced ($249/month billed yearly, $299 billed monthly): 15 rules, 50,000 mentions, unlimited users, share of voice and reports.

  • Pro ($416/month billed yearly, $499 billed monthly): 25 rules, 100,000 mentions, podcasts and the API.

  • Business ($624/month billed yearly, $749 billed monthly): 40+ rules, 200,000+ mentions, image recognition and white-label reports.

From Advanced up, extra mentions cost $10 per 10,000. Yearly plans carry a full refund for 14 days.

Pros#

  • Advanced gives 50,000 mentions and 15 keyword rules for $249, where YouScan Starter gives 15,000 across 3 topics for $499.

  • Image recognition has a public price, on Business at $624.

  • Monthly billing and a card-free trial.

  • A 14-day full refund on yearly plans.

Cons#

  • Basic and Essential cap users at 2 and 10, where YouScan has no seat cap.

  • Basic and Essential cannot buy extra mentions.

  • Software Advice shows 4.7 from 38 reviews (checked Oct 16, 2026), and the newest dates from July 2024.

  • Facebook listening covers monitored pages only, a Meta limit that YouScan works around with Page channels.

Summary#

If your brief is text mentions, sentiment and share of voice for one brand and a few rivals, Mentionlytics Advanced costs half of YouScan Starter and gives more than 3 times the mentions. Keep YouScan for briefs where logos in images or TikTok audio decide the report.

YouScan Alternative: Brandwatch#

Source: Brandwatch homepage, brandwatch.com, captured Oct 16, 2026 after accepting the cookie banner, with the webinar bar in view.

Brandwatch, now part of Cision, is the enterprise suite that YouScan sets itself against on its own comparison pages. Pick it when you need history back to 2010 and one vendor for listening, publishing and influencer work, and price comes second.

Features#

  • Archive: 1.7 trillion historical conversations back to 2010, with 501 million new ones added a day.

  • Iris and classifiers: Iris, an assistant that summarizes data, plus machine learning classifiers and image analysis for objects, scenes, actions and logos.

  • Dashboards and exports: 50+ live visualizations, exports to Excel, PowerPoint and PDF, the API, and Vizia for live screens.

  • Suite: Consumer Intelligence, Social Media Management, Influencer Marketing and Search Intelligence, sold as separate solutions.

Pricing#

Brandwatch sells standard to enterprise plans for each solution with no public prices, and you get each plan through a demo (checked Oct 16, 2026).

Pros#

  • An archive reaching back to 2010, where YouScan Starter keeps 30 days.

  • Image analysis inside Consumer Intelligence.

  • Publishing and influencer tools from the same vendor.

  • 50+ live visualizations, which answers the YouScan reviewer who wanted deeper dashboard widgets.

Cons#

  • No public price for any plan.

  • No self-serve trial.

  • Software Advice shows 4.2 from 255 reviews and Trustpilot 2.0 from 21 (checked Oct 16, 2026).

Summary#

Brandwatch makes sense for a global insights team with an enterprise budget and a need for years of history. If price brought you to YouScan, Brandwatch moves you the other way, so get both quotes for the same topic list.

Final Verdict: Is YouScan Worth It in 2026?#

Yes, for a brand or insight team whose brief needs logo recognition in images, TikTok coverage or audio transcripts, as long as you get every module priced on the Order Form before you sign. Reviewers such as Moa W., Jack F. and Silvia M. name those three jobs as the reason they pay for YouScan.

For text-only brand monitoring, Mentionlytics Essential covers the same 15,000 mentions for $141 a month billed yearly. If your goal is to reply to people asking for a product like yours on Reddit, LinkedIn or Slack, CommunityTracker Pro covers it at $99 a month.

Buy YouScan if:

  • Your reports need visual proof: sponsorship and brand teams use Visual Insights to count logos in photos that carry no text mention.

  • TikTok sits at the center of your market: reviewers from market research and agencies name TikTok data as the reason they signed.

  • Your team is large: unlimited users on every plan means 25 analysts cost the same as 2.

  • You work across countries: Nikolaas B. tracks brands in multiple international markets, and Shea F. chose YouScan for Central Asia coverage.

Skip YouScan if:

  • You need more than 3 topics on a small budget: Starter cannot add topics, and Listen has no public price.

  • You want a way out: fees are non-refundable and the terms prohibit downgrades.

  • Your buyers ask questions in community threads: YouScan counts those posts and gives you no contact data.

  • You want to start without a sales call: the trial account comes after a demo.

I would buy YouScan for a consumer brand team that reports sponsorship visibility each quarter, on a Listen plan with Visual Data Analysis on the Order Form. I would not buy Starter for an agency with 4 clients, because 3 fixed topics cannot hold them.

Your first move: write your topic list, mark which topics need image or audio data, and send both to YouScan with your demo request, so the quote arrives with every module priced.

FAQs#

1. Is YouScan worth it in 2026? Yes for brand and insight teams whose brief needs logo recognition in images, TikTok coverage or audio transcripts, and who price every add-on before signing. Starter costs $499 a month billed annually (checked Oct 2026). Text-only monitoring costs less on Mentionlytics Essential, and lead finding in community threads fits CommunityTracker Pro. Ask for the Order Form with modules listed.

2. How much does YouScan cost? Starter costs $499 a month billed annually, or $5,988 a year, for 3 topics and 15,000 new mentions a month (checked Oct 2026). Listen, Analyze and Enterprise are quote-only, and add-on modules carry separate fees. Count your topics before the demo.

3. Does YouScan have a free trial? Yes, after a demo request: YouScan sets up a trial account for you and publishes no trial length. YouScan offers no free plan. Book the demo with your topic list ready so the trial covers your real queries.

4. Can I get a refund from YouScan? No. The terms call all fees non-refundable and payment obligations non-cancellable, and stopping use earns no prorated refund (checked Oct 2026). EU consumers keep a 14-day cooling-off right. Read the renewal date on your Order Form and set a reminder before it.

5. How many topics and mentions does YouScan Starter include? 3 fixed topics with 5,000 new mentions each per month, 15,000 in total, and 30 days of history. The count resets on the 1st of each month, and Starter cannot add topics. Check your daily mention count in Account Info during the trial.

6. Does YouScan monitor Instagram and Facebook? In part. Instagram keyword matches need a hashtag, full account feeds need an authorized business or creator account, and Facebook channels accept public Pages only (checked Oct 2026). Meta authorization expires every 60 days, so renew it on a schedule.

7. YouScan vs Brand24: which costs less? Brand24 costs less per mention: Pro gives 40,000 mentions for $399 a month billed annually, against 15,000 on YouScan Starter for $499 (checked Oct 2026). Brand24 adds a 30-day money-back guarantee, but it has no logo recognition on its plans. Choose by whether your brief needs image data.

8. Can I downgrade a YouScan plan? No. Section 2.7 of the terms prohibits moving to a plan with fewer topics or functions, and every change needs a new Order Form. Start with the smallest topic count you need and add topics later.

My bottom line: YouScan earns its price when images, TikTok or video audio drive your report, on a Listen or Analyze quote with every module written into the Order Form. Text-only monitoring belongs on Mentionlytics Essential, and lead finding in community threads belongs on CommunityTracker Pro.
