On Oct 9, 2026, TrustRadius published a summary of 24 Hootsuite reviews. 67% of those reviewers report time savings, and the same reviewers name failed scheduled posts, tagging problems on LinkedIn and Facebook, and limited analytics as cons (checked Oct 16, 2026).

Source: TrustRadius Hootsuite reviews page, captured Oct 16, 2026
For you, the tool saves time for two in three reviewers, and the bill decides whether it stays. Standard costs $99 a user a month billed annually, so a team of 3 pays $3,564 a year. Under Hootsuite's terms, you can't get paid fees back, and the plan rolls into a new term unless you cancel.
That makes switching hard. Your calendar, inbox history and approvals live in Hootsuite, and the tools that match its features also charge per seat.
My view: count the people who need a login and the date your term renews, and compare tools on those two numbers before features.
Below, you get 6 tools with prices checked Oct 16, 2026, the user stories for and against each, and a pick for each situation.
TL;DR: 6 Hootsuite Alternatives and Who Each One Fits#
1. CommunityTracker.ai: if your Hootsuite listening exists to catch buyers and complaints, it covers Reddit, LinkedIn, Hacker News and GitHub. Free, then $39 a month for the whole team, billed monthly.
2. Agorapulse: for teams that reply to messages all day and need client approvals. From $79 per user a month billed annually, or $99 billed monthly, after a 30-day trial.
3. Buffer: for teams that mostly schedule posts. $5 per channel a month billed yearly on Essentials, or $10 on Team with unlimited team members.
4. Sprout Social: for teams that want a Hootsuite-sized suite with more report options and accept another per-seat contract. From $79 per seat a month billed annually.
5. YouScan: for brand and research teams that want to replace Lumen with image, video and TikTok listening. $499 a month billed annually, with unlimited users.
6. Sprinklr: for enterprises that run customer care and social on one contract. Quote only.
Why Teams Leave Hootsuite#
I think the case for leaving Hootsuite rests on the per-user bill and the terms around it, and much less on the product. The evidence points both ways, so here is what each piece shows and what it leaves open.
What the ratings tell you#
Hootsuite holds 4.4 from 3,804 reviews on Capterra UK, 8.2 from 1,299 on TrustRadius, and 1.3 from 556 on Trustpilot (all checked Oct 16, 2026).

Source: Capterra UK Hootsuite reviews page, captured Oct 16, 2026

Source: Trustpilot Hootsuite reviews page, captured Oct 16, 2026
What it means: people who use the product every day rate it well. People who write on Trustpilot tend to write after a billing or support problem.
What it doesn't prove: the 1.3 doesn't show the software fails. The 4.4 doesn't show the price fits a team of 5. Each site answers a different question.
What the terms say (checked Oct 16, 2026)#
I read Hootsuite's self-serve terms and payment terms on Oct 16, 2026:
Section 22: self-serve plans "renew automatically at the end of the term," monthly or annual, and Hootsuite bills you on renewal unless you cancel or downgrade.
Section 24: if you cancel a paid plan, "you must continue to pay for the rest of your plan term and you are not entitled to a refund."
Payment terms: fees for paid plans "are non-refundable," and price changes need 30 days' notice and don't apply inside your current term.

Source: Hootsuite Terms of Service, Section 22, captured Oct 16, 2026

Source: Hootsuite Terms of Service, Section 24, captured Oct 16, 2026
What this means for you: an annual plan is a 12-month cost the day you buy it. What it doesn't prove: that Hootsuite refuses every refund. One reviewer, Aimee-Lee, was charged more than 1,000 euros after she removed her card, later changed her review to 4 stars and wrote that Hootsuite "refunded the amount quickly and efficiently" (older than 12 months) (Trustpilot, Apr 25, 2025).

Three stories from the last 12 months#
The rollover. Tristan N., writing on Software Advice in December 2025, saw a subscription roll over and bill "over $1,000" (Software Advice, Dec 2025). His case shows how Section 22 plays out when nobody on the team owns the renewal date.
The late notice. Melissa Ziegler's team started its cancellation 5 days after the window closed, and the exit fee came to half the annual fee (Trustpilot, Dec 12, 2025). One story doesn't set a policy, but it tells you to check your own contract for a notice period.

Source: Trustpilot review by Melissa Ziegler, captured Oct 16, 2026
The wait. Nelly Y wrote in August 2026 that an email answer from support can take "days and days" (Trustpilot, Aug 31, 2026). Gary Oak, in February 2026, put the gap at about 48 hours per reply (Trustpilot, Feb 13, 2026).

Source: Trustpilot review by Nelly Y, captured Oct 16, 2026
Practitioners on X make the seat point in plain numbers. A freelancer who reviews software, @solostack_kou, wrote on Aug 7, 2026 that Buffer prices per connected channel and Hootsuite prices per user, so the cheaper tool "depends entirely on how many client accounts you're actually managing." On Mar 8, 2026, @JustClauFlowers questioned paying "200 usd per user per month" for a plan. Both are buyer-side opinions about price. Neither says anything about how the product works.

Where Hootsuite earns credit#
Users give Hootsuite credit in four places, and you lose some of these when you switch:
Many accounts, one place. Grace posts once to several Facebook pages and Instagram accounts and calls it a time saver (Trustpilot, Oct 22, 2025).
A manager can check drafts. Amanda Bellavance's boss reviews drafts and past analytics in the same tool (TrustRadius, Aug 21, 2026).
An inbox for support agents. At Caribbean Airlines, Leeann Gibbs's agents handle direct messages in the Hootsuite inbox (TrustRadius, Aug 21, 2026).
Listening on lower plans. On Oct 8, 2026, a marketing analyst wrote that Lumen Lite is "vital" for tracking how people see the brand (TrustRadius, Oct 8, 2026).

Source: TrustRadius review by a marketing analyst, Oct 8, 2026, captured Oct 16, 2026
Lumen is Hootsuite's listening product. Hootsuite also owns Talkwalker, which it renamed Lumen by Talkwalker in June 2026 (checked Oct 16, 2026). If you run Talkwalker today, read our Talkwalker review before you plan a switch, because the listening contract may sit with the same vendor.
How I Evaluated These Hootsuite Alternatives#
I ranked 6 tools on four questions:
Results: which Hootsuite job each tool takes over: publishing, the inbox, reports, or listening.
Features: scheduling, approvals, inbox, listening, and coverage of communities such as Reddit and Hacker News.
Pricing: a year's cost at 1 and 3 people, what the price is counted on, and the exit route, from pricing pages read Oct 16, 2026.
Problem solved: whether the tool removes the per-user bill, the annual lock, or both.
A tie goes to the tool whose bill grows less with each new teammate. That rule puts Sprinklr last: it sells through an Order Form with fees payable in advance, which brings back the problem you're leaving.
My review sources are Trustpilot, Software Advice, Capterra, TrustRadius and X posts from the past year. I mark every review older than 12 months, and I say which complaints I believe.

Want to test the listening swap first? Open a free CommunityTracker.ai plan, add one keyword, and compare its feed with your Lumen searches until the renewal date.
1. CommunityTracker.ai#
CommunityTracker.ai takes over the listening half of Hootsuite for one team price. It finds posts where people ask for a tool like yours on Reddit, LinkedIn, Hacker News and GitHub, and it leaves scheduling to another tool.

Source: CommunityTracker.ai homepage, captured Oct 16, 2026
Features#
I put it first because it removes the per-user bill from listening, which is the Hootsuite cost that grows fastest for teams that track buyers.
Keyword tracking: 1 keyword on Free, 4 on Starter, 10 on Pro and 20 on Advanced.
Communities: Reddit on Free. Reddit, LinkedIn, Hacker News and GitHub from Starter. All communities on Pro.
AI Scoring and filtering (Pro): posts get a buyer-intent score, so your team reads buyer threads first.
Share of Voice (Pro): your mentions against a competitor's in the same communities.
Alerts: daily alerts, and daily Slack alerts on Pro and Advanced.
Response Generator: drafts a reply you edit before you post it.
Pricing#
I'd start on Free with one keyword, then move to Pro once two people read the feed.
Free: $0, 1 keyword, Reddit.
Starter: $39 a month, 4 keywords, 5,000 mentions.
Pro: $99 a month, 10 keywords, unlimited mentions, AI Scoring, Share of Voice.
Advanced: $199 a month, 20 keywords, AI Visibility and the Share of Voice exporter.
CommunityTracker sells without long-term contracts, you can cancel anytime, and a free trial is available. Three people on Pro pay $1,188 a year, the same as one. Prices checked Oct 16, 2026 on the pricing page.

Source: CommunityTracker.ai pricing page, captured Oct 16, 2026
Pros#
Team pricing. A new reader adds $0.
Monthly billing. You leave at the end of any month.
Reddit, Hacker News and GitHub coverage. These communities sit outside the networks Hootsuite connects.
A free plan for a test before you spend.
Cons#
1. No publishing or inbox. You keep Hootsuite, Buffer or Agorapulse for scheduling and replies.
2. 0 user reviews. I found no CommunityTracker reviews on Trustpilot, G2, Capterra, Software Advice or TrustRadius on Oct 16, 2026, so the free plan is your only test.
What users say#
There are no reviews to tell as stories yet. I won't fill this space with quotes from other tools' users, so use the Free plan as your evidence and set your keyword before your Hootsuite renewal.
Summary#
My pick for teams whose Hootsuite seats exist mainly to watch conversations about their product.
Pick it if you pay for Lumen to find buyers and complaints, and Reddit or Hacker News matter in your market.
Skip it if you need one tool that schedules, answers messages and listens.
2. Agorapulse#
Agorapulse covers what most Hootsuite teams do each day: schedule, answer the inbox and send client reports. It still charges per user, but it bills by the month, which loosens the annual lock.

Source: Agorapulse homepage, captured Oct 16, 2026
Features#
Agorapulse ranks #2 because it replaces the full Hootsuite workflow and lets you cancel at the end of a month.
Inbox: comments, mentions and messages in one feed, with assignment to teammates.
Approvals (Professional and up): client and manager sign-off before a post goes out. Hootsuite keeps approvals for Advanced at $399.
Reports: ROI reports that tie posts to website traffic.
Listening: sold through sales.
Pricing#
I'd pay monthly for the first quarter, because the 2025 billing stories below involve plan changes.
Standard: $79 per user a month billed annually, or $99 billed monthly.
Professional: $119 billed annually, or $149 billed monthly.
Advanced: $149 billed annually, or $199 billed monthly.
Custom: quote.
Free plan: no. Agorapulse ended it on Jul 6, 2026; the trial runs 30 days with no card.
Three people on Professional pay $4,284 a year billed annually. The same three people on Hootsuite Advanced, the plan where Hootsuite approvals start, pay $14,364. Prices checked Oct 16, 2026. See our Agorapulse review.

Source: Agorapulse pricing page, annual billing, captured Oct 16, 2026

Source: Agorapulse pricing page, monthly billing, captured Oct 16, 2026
Pros#
Approvals at $119. Hootsuite asks $399 a user for the same step.
Monthly invoices after a 30-day trial.
Inbox praise that repeats across 2025 and 2026.
Cons#
1. Per-user pricing. Five people on Professional pay $745 a month billed monthly.
2. Listening needs a sales call.
3. Posting and upload failures in a 2026 review.
4. Billing disputes in 2025 after stop requests and plan changes.
What users like#
The inbox clearer. Richard Tubb calls the result "Inbox Zero" for social (Trustpilot, Nov 21, 2025).
The buyer who came for one feature. Leslie Samuel ranks the unified inbox as "the number one reason" for buying (Trustpilot, Nov 21, 2025).
The stakeholder report. Lincoln uses the ROI reports to show stakeholders what posts return (Capterra UK, Jan 1, 2026).
The agency with clients to please. Oh So Social names client approval as the part it relies on (Trustpilot, Nov 21, 2025).
The Hootsuite leaver. Jean switched from Hootsuite to get YouTube and TikTok comments in one inbox (older than 12 months) (Trustpilot, Oct 7, 2023).
What users dislike#
The admin who watched uploads stall. Social Admin reported failed tokens, posts that didn't go out, uploads stuck at 99%, and a 6-hour wait for support (Trustpilot, Jan 30, 2026).
The buyer who said stop. Agent Upgrade reports charges that continued after a written request to end the plan (older than 12 months) (Trustpilot, Oct 1, 2025).
The agency facing a new plan. AgencyMan says a forced plan change would double the monthly fee (older than 12 months) (Trustpilot, Jul 9, 2025).
The solo creator. Amaiya D'sa finds the price on the high side for one person (Trustpilot, Oct 16, 2025).
The annual buyer who hit a tier wall. David paid for a year, then learned reply tagging sat on the next tier (older than 12 months) (Trustpilot, Jun 26, 2024).
The cross-poster. Chelsey M. Gray couldn't change a caption per network in one cross-post (older than 12 months) (TrustRadius, Sep 15, 2023).
How I weigh this: three of the praise reviews landed on Nov 21, 2025, so I count them as one signal. The two billing disputes both date from 2025, which tells you they happened and doesn't tell you they still happen. The 2026 upload story is the one I'd test in a trial.
Summary#
The full Hootsuite replacement I'd trial first, on monthly billing.
Pick it if you need approvals and an inbox for 2 to 5 people and don't want to pay Hootsuite Advanced.
Skip it if listening is the main job, since that part needs a quote.
3. Buffer#
Buffer charges by channel, so a team of 8 pays what a team of 1 pays on Team. For a Hootsuite user who mostly schedules, that removes the seat bill.

Source: Buffer homepage, captured Oct 16, 2026
Features#
Buffer sits at #3 for schedule-first teams. It drops approvals and listening, and you feel that loss if you used them in Hootsuite.
Publishing: queue and calendar per channel, with unlimited scheduled posts on paid plans.
Community inbox: reply to comments.
AI Assistant: drafts and rewrites.
Analytics: post and channel reports.
Team plan: add as many people as you like.
Pricing#
I'd start on Free, then buy Team on monthly billing until you know your channel count.
Free: up to 3 channels with 10 queued posts each.
Essentials: 1 user, at $5 a channel each month on yearly billing or $6 on monthly.
Team: $10 per channel a month billed yearly, or $12 monthly. Unlimited team members.
Trial: 14 days.
Pay yearly for 5 channels on Team and the bill is $600, whatever your headcount. On Hootsuite Standard, $600 a year buys about half of one user. Prices checked Oct 16, 2026.

Source: Buffer pricing page, yearly billing, captured Oct 16, 2026

Source: Buffer pricing page, monthly billing, captured Oct 16, 2026
Pros#
Seats leave the math on Team.
Free tier, then month-to-month.
$5 entry price per channel billed yearly.
Ratings: 4.5 from 1,492 on Software Advice and 3.9 from 131 on Trustpilot (checked Oct 16, 2026).
Cons#
1. No approvals and no listening.
2. Posting failures in 2026 reviews.
3. Analytics with few options, per an October 2026 reviewer.
4. Cost grows by channel, so 20 channels on Team cost $2,400 a year billed yearly.
What users like#
The company that cut a bill. Ebonie H. saved the company $500 by moving to Buffer (older than 12 months) (Software Advice, Oct 2023).
The team that stopped counting seats. Jack H. set up Team "giving us unlimited users" (older than 12 months) (Software Advice, Sep 2023).
The manager with several brands. Lauren B. manages several accounts at no extra cost (older than 12 months) (Software Advice, Apr 2025).
The batch scheduler. Nuria R. queues posts in one sitting and leaves them (older than 12 months) (Software Advice, May 2025).
The multi-network poster. Tiffany likes scheduling to several platforms from one place (Trustpilot, Oct 3, 2026).
The everywhere poster. Kelly M. can schedule to every network she uses (Software Advice, Apr 2026).
What users dislike#
The user who lost trust in the queue. Anton calls posting "unstable and unreliable" (Trustpilot, Jul 2, 2026).

Source: Trustpilot review by Anton, captured Oct 16, 2026
The same Kelly, on reliability. Kelly M. reports posts failing "every week" in the same review that praises scheduling (Software Advice, Apr 2026).
The analyst. Katarzyna finds the analytics short on options (Trustpilot, Oct 6, 2026).

Source: Trustpilot review by Katarzyna, captured Oct 16, 2026
The reconnector. Luis Terán calls the channel connection "a pain" (Trustpilot, Jun 29, 2026).
The native-app user. Jen misses settings she has inside each network's own app (Trustpilot, May 21, 2026).
The dates matter here. Most of the price praise is from 2023 to 2025, and the posting complaints are from 2026, so run your own channels through the 14-day trial. Hootsuite's TrustRadius summary names failed posts too, so these stories don't show Buffer fails more often.
Summary#
My budget pick for a Hootsuite team that schedules and doesn't need sign-off.
Pick it if you run 10 channels or fewer and 3 or more people need logins.
Skip it if you need approvals, listening, or reports for clients.
4. Sprout Social#
Sprout Social covers the same jobs as Hootsuite and adds more report options. It also charges per seat and renews annual plans on its own, so you keep the billing problem you came here to fix.
Features#
For a team of 3, moving to Sprout costs more than staying, which keeps it at #4.
Smart Inbox: one stream for DMs and comments across networks.
Approvals: post-level sign-off for agency clients.
Reports: dashboards and PDF reports for clients.
Listening and Premium Analytics: add-ons.
Pricing#
I'd only sign annual after a month on monthly billing.
Essentials: $79 per seat a month billed annually, or $99 monthly.
Standard: $199, or $249 monthly.
Professional: $299, or $399 monthly.
Advanced: $399, or $499 monthly.
Sprout's terms, effective May 9, 2025 (checked Oct 15, 2026), renew annual plans on their own, give no refunds, and allow a renewal increase of up to 7%. Three people on Standard pay $7,164 a year billed annually, which is $3,600 more than Hootsuite Standard for the same three. See our Sprout Social review.

Pros#
Reports clients read. Agencies name them often.
Monthly billing exists, at a higher rate.
Ratings: 4.4 from 609 on Capterra UK and 8.4 from 632 on TrustRadius.
Cons#
1. Seat prices above Hootsuite on Standard and up.
2. Auto-renewing annual terms with no refunds.
3. Account management complaints in 2026.
4. Reporting errors in a September 2026 review.
What users like#
The coordinator with a dozen handles. Zach runs a dozen handles and sub-brands and calls the reports "top tier" (Capterra UK, Feb 22, 2026).
The studio at volume. Heather Mills at YMH Studios handles 55+ accounts and about 1,500 posts a month with custom reports (TrustRadius, Jun 26, 2026).
The agency sending PDFs. Christian Estrellado at Estro Communications sends dashboards and PDF reports to clients (TrustRadius, Apr 7, 2026).
The PR agency with many approvers. An employee in marketing at a PR agency sets several people per client and approvals per post (TrustRadius, Aug 29, 2026).
The mortgage marketer. Bob Sadowski at myCUmortgage monitors and answers Google Business reviews in Sprout (TrustRadius, Jun 26, 2026).
The marketing director. Jeff replies to messages and comments from one inbox (older than 12 months) (Capterra UK, Sep 16, 2025).
What users dislike#
The dealer told it was a formality. Jim Gilbert's Wheels and Deals says a 24-month contract was sold as a formality (Trustpilot, Nov 19, 2025).
The silent account manager. Tommy S waited weeks for his account manager to answer (Trustpilot, Oct 15, 2026).

Source: Trustpilot review by Tommy S, captured Oct 16, 2026
The new customer sent to a bot. Jessica asked for setup help and got a chat bot (Trustpilot, Apr 15, 2026).
The VP checking numbers. Étienne reports several reporting errors (Capterra UK, Sep 18, 2026).
The small agency that wants out. A C-level marketing executive at a 1 to 10 person agency rated it 3 out of 10, can't leave the agreement, and missed comments and DMs in the inbox (TrustRadius, Mar 25, 2026).
The franchise strategist. A strategist at a utilities franchise network calls it "very pricey" and says two people can't work in one account at once (TrustRadius, Jun 26, 2026).
Read together, Sprout's reviewers praise what Hootsuite's reviewers praise, plus reports, and they complain about contracts in the same way. The missed-messages story comes from one 3-out-of-10 review, so I treat it as a question for your trial and no more.
Summary#
The move up in reporting, priced above Hootsuite.
Pick it if client reports decide your renewals and your budget covers $199 a seat.
Skip it if you're leaving Hootsuite over seat costs or annual terms.
5. YouScan#
YouScan replaces Lumen for teams that need to find a logo in a photo or a brand name spoken in a TikTok video. It prices by topic and gives unlimited users, so headcount stops mattering.
Features#
YouScan fixes the listening bill and nothing else, at five times the price of CommunityTracker Pro. That puts it at #5.
Visual listening: logo recognition in images.
Audio mentions: brand names spoken in video on TikTok and YouTube.
Insights Copilot: questions about your mentions, about 10 a month on Starter.
Topics: 3 fixed topics on Starter, 5,000 new mentions per topic a month, 30 days of history.
Pricing#
I'd sign for the fewest topics you can live with. Our YouScan review found that the terms let you add topics and not remove them.
Starter: $499 a month billed annually, or $5,988 a year. Unlimited users.
Listen, Analyze, Enterprise: demo request.
Starter works out to $33.27 per 1,000 mentions. Prices checked Oct 16, 2026. See our YouScan review.

Source: YouScan pricing page, captured Oct 16, 2026
Pros#
Unlimited users on every plan.
Logos and spoken mentions that text tools miss.
Support praise across 2026.
Ratings: 4.9 from 125 on Software Advice (checked Oct 16, 2026).
Cons#
1. 3 topics on Starter, with topics you can't remove.
2. A mention cap per topic.
3. Modules sold as add-ons.
4. Data collection delays of up to a day in one 2026 review.
5. No publishing.
What users like#
The research firm that came for TikTok. Jack F., at an 11 to 50 person market research firm, subscribed for its TikTok data (Software Advice, May 2026).
The sponsorship brief. Moa W. had a client brief that required logo detection at sports events (Software Advice, Jun 2026).
The happy support ticket. Ann S. calls support "top-notch" (Software Advice, Apr 2026).
The hospitality account. Erik S. had his account manager build a custom rule to exclude noise (Software Advice, Apr 2026).
The consumer goods team. Lubica J. says Insights Copilot gets the team to insights faster (Software Advice, Mar 2026).
The price comparer. Cesar C. rates it as good as enterprise listening tools at a lower price (Software Advice, Jul 2026).
The logo hunter. Sage S. calls logo recognition "the biggest game-changer" (older than 12 months) (Software Advice, Sep 2025).
What users dislike#
The agency squeezing projects together. Valdir U. says the query limit forces the agency to merge projects into one query (Software Advice, Jun 2026).

Source: Software Advice review by Valdir U., captured Oct 16, 2026
The Starter user who saw the cap halve. Francisco M. says the per-topic limit dropped from 10,000 to 5,000 (Software Advice, May 2026).
The crisis team. Laura P. says collection can take up to 1 day (Software Advice, Aug 2026).
The small team. Tomas C. says pricing weighs on smaller teams (Software Advice, Jun 2026).
The buyer who wanted a clear menu. Maggie W. wanted to know up front which features are add-ons (Software Advice, May 2026).
The noise cleaner. Cristian G. spends time removing unrelated matches (older than 12 months) (Software Advice, Apr 2025).
None of the 125 Software Advice reviews sits below 4 stars, and the topic and cap complaints sit inside those 4- and 5-star reviews. So the 4.9 rates the product. It says little about whether $499 for 3 topics fits your brief.
Summary#
The Lumen replacement for teams whose brief includes images and video.
Pick it if you need logo or audio detection and 3 topics cover your brands.
Skip it if you track text mentions on a budget under $500 a month.
6. Sprinklr#
Sprinklr runs customer care, social publishing and listening for enterprises on one Order Form. It's the step up from Hootsuite Enterprise, and it's the furthest from a fix for annual terms.

Source: Sprinklr homepage, captured Oct 16, 2026
Features#
Sprinklr ranks last because it trades a per-user plan for a contract with fees paid in advance.
Publishing and governance for many country teams.
Care inbox for agents, with sentiment scoring.
Listening and visual listening in Sprinklr Insights.
Dashboards for live reporting to internal and external teams.
Pricing#
I'd negotiate the renewal and notice terms in the Order Form before you sign.
Price: quote only. There is no public pricing page and no trial, only a demo.
Self-Serve: discontinued.
Terms: the Master Services Agreement makes fees payable in advance and non-cancelable unless the Order Form says otherwise (checked Oct 16, 2026).
See our Sprinklr review.

Source: Sprinklr demo request page, captured Oct 16, 2026
Pros#
One platform for care, publishing and listening.
Governance for global teams.
Ratings: 4.2 from 94 on Capterra and 8.8 from 175 for Sprinklr Social on TrustRadius (checked Oct 16, 2026).
Cons#
1. No public price.
2. Fees in advance that you can't cancel by default.

The retail support manager. Dana M. credits the AI with accuracy in sentiment and trend prediction (older than 12 months) (Capterra, May 20, 2025).
What users dislike#
The same content manager, on price. Chris H. calls it one of the more expensive tools of its kind (Capterra, Nov 13, 2025).
The small business view. Muhammad Zohaib A. says it's expensive for small businesses and integrations need technical help (Capterra, Sep 12, 2026).
The ad manager, on learning. Jessie E. calls the learning curve steep and says LinkedIn scheduling by time of day breaks campaigns (Capterra, Sep 23, 2026).
The rep, on setup. Denis L. names a lengthy implementation (Capterra, Sep 25, 2026).

The customer sent videos. Alisia Lewis says support answers questions with videos and no person (older than 12 months) (Trustpilot, Jan 30, 2025).
Jessie E. and Denis L. each praise the reports and fault the setup in the same 2026 review, which I find more useful than a 1-star rant. No reviewer states a price, so none of this tells you what your Order Form will say.
Summary#
The upgrade for enterprises that outgrew Hootsuite Enterprise.
Pick it if you run customer care and social for many regions and have staff to run the setup.
Skip it if you're leaving Hootsuite to get out of annual terms.
FAQ#
Which Hootsuite alternative is free?#
CommunityTracker.ai and Buffer each have a free plan. CommunityTracker covers community listening and Buffer covers 3 channels. Agorapulse ended its free plan on Jul 6, 2026.
Which Hootsuite alternative doesn't charge per user?#
Buffer Team charges per channel with unlimited team members. YouScan gives unlimited users on every plan. CommunityTracker.ai prices each plan for the team.
Can I get a refund if I cancel Hootsuite?#
Under Section 24 of the self-serve terms (checked Oct 16, 2026), you pay for the rest of your term and get no refund. One Trustpilot reviewer was charged more than 1,000 euros after she removed her card, later changed her review to 4 stars and wrote that Hootsuite "refunded the amount quickly and efficiently" (older than 12 months), so ask if you were billed in error.
Does leaving Hootsuite mean leaving Talkwalker?#
No. Talkwalker became Lumen by Talkwalker in June 2026 and sits under the same owner, so check each contract on its own.
How early should I start moving?#
I'd start the trial 45 days before your Hootsuite renewal, so you have a month on the new tool and time to cancel before Section 22 renews the plan.
Who Should Switch#
Teams of 3 or more on Hootsuite Standard who mostly schedule. Three Hootsuite users cost $3,564 a year, and Buffer Team with 5 channels costs $600.
Teams that need approvals and pay for Advanced to get them. Agorapulse Professional has approvals at $119 a user billed annually, against $399.
Teams that pay for Lumen to find buyers. CommunityTracker Pro costs $99 a month for the whole team and covers Reddit and Hacker News.
Anyone who can't plan around a non-refundable year. Agorapulse, Buffer and CommunityTracker all bill monthly.
Who Should Stay#
One person managing up to 10 accounts. Standard at $99 a month billed annually covers that person, and reviewers credit Hootsuite for many accounts in one place.
Support teams that live in the inbox. The Caribbean Airlines story shows the inbox carries agent work, and a switch means retraining.
Teams that use Lumen Lite and are happy with it. A 2026 reviewer calls it vital, and your listening cost is already in your seat.
Teams with a renewal 11 months away. Section 24 means you pay the rest of the term anyway, so plan the move for month 10.
How to Decide, by Situation#
If you're 3+ people who schedule posts, pick Buffer Team, because seats cost $0 there and Hootsuite charges $99 for each.
If you're an agency that needs client sign-off, pick Agorapulse Professional on monthly billing, because Hootsuite puts approvals on the $399 plan.
If your Lumen searches exist to find buyers and complaints, pick CommunityTracker Pro, because it covers Reddit, Hacker News and GitHub for $99 a month and bills monthly.
If your brief includes logos in photos or brand names in video, pick YouScan Starter, because it detects both and gives unlimited users for $499 a month.
If client reports decide your renewals, pick Sprout Social, and accept that 3 seats on Standard cost $7,164 a year.
If you run care and social across regions, pick Sprinklr, and get renewal and notice terms written into the Order Form, since its fees are non-cancelable by default.
If your renewal is less than 45 days away, cancel or downgrade first under Section 24, then trial a new tool while the term runs out.
The budget pick: Buffer Team, $10 per channel on yearly billing with no seat count.
The upgrade pick: Agorapulse Professional, $119 per user on annual billing, for approvals without paying for Hootsuite Advanced.
