7 Sprout Social Alternatives I Compared in 2026 (Per Seat)

In TrustRadius's summary of 33 Sprout Social reviews, 30% of reviewers find it expensive because of add-ons and multi-year contracts (TrustRadius, published Jun 27, 2026, checked Oct 16, 2026).

Source: TrustRadius, Sprout Social reviews, captured Oct 16, 2026

On Capterra UK, Sprout holds 4.4 from 609 reviews (Capterra UK, checked Oct 16, 2026). Users like the inbox and the reports. The money is where they push back.

Source: Capterra UK, Sprout Social reviews, captured Oct 16, 2026

The cost shows up in three places after you sign: - Each seat adds the full plan price, $199 a month on Standard billed annually. - Listening and Premium Analytics cost extra. - An annual plan renews on its own. Sprout's terms, effective May 9, 2025 and checked Oct 15, 2026, let it raise the renewal price by up to 7% without extra notice, and by more with 60 days' notice.

My view: price a Sprout replacement per person and per year, with the renewal included, because your seat count and your contract set the bill more than the plan name does.

This post covers 7 tools, each price as I checked it on Oct 16, 2026, what users like and dislike, and who should pick which one.

TL;DR: 7 Sprout Social Alternatives and Who Each One Fits#

  1. CommunityTracker.ai: for teams that bought Sprout Listening to find buyers and complaints on Reddit, LinkedIn, Hacker News and GitHub. Free, then $39 a month, one price for the team.

  2. Agorapulse: for social teams that want Sprout's inbox, approvals and reports with monthly billing. $99 per user a month billed monthly, or $79 billed annually.

  3. Buffer: for small teams that publish and want to pay per channel instead of per person. Free for 3 channels, then $6 per channel a month billed monthly, or $5 billed yearly.

  4. Hootsuite: for teams that want publishing, an inbox and listening in one seat. $99 per user a month billed annually.

  5. Brand24: for teams that used Sprout for listening and want unlimited users. $349 a month billed monthly on Team, or $299 billed annually.

  6. Mentionlytics: for small teams that want listening plus share of voice under $200 a month. $160 a month billed monthly on Essential, or $141 billed yearly.

  7. Brandwatch: for enterprise teams that want research-grade listening plus publishing under one contract. Quote only.

Why Teams Leave Sprout Social#

Sprout users rate the product well. Capterra UK reviewers give it 4.4, and Software Advice shows the same 4.4 from 609 reviews, with value for money at 3.9, below ease of use at 4.4 (both checked Oct 15, 2026).

The complaints that repeat in 2025 and 2026 are about leaving and about headcount.

On renewals, the newest Trustpilot reviews keep telling the same story from different buyers: - shawn owens gave exactly 30 days' notice and got no proration (Trustpilot, Jan 31, 2026). - Diego cancelled 3 times by email and was still renewed (Trustpilot, Aug 5, 2026). - Chris found that a plan sold as monthly was an annual contract (Trustpilot, Sep 30, 2026).

On seats, an agency reviewer, MAsencio, faced "this additional $9,576 in charges" after adding 2 users (Trustpilot, Feb 28, 2026).

Source: Trustpilot review by MAsencio, captured Oct 16, 2026

Put a team of 3 on Standard and the bill is $7,164 a year, billed annually. If Sprout applies the full 7% at renewal, year two costs $501.48 more for the same 3 people. Grow to 5 people and Standard alone reaches $11,940 a year, before Listening or Premium Analytics.

Most switch guides tell you to match features first. I'd count heads first. Buffer Team for 5 channels costs $600 a year for any headcount, against $7,164 for 3 Sprout Standard seats. Our Sprout Social review covers each Sprout plan and term in detail.

How I Evaluated These Sprout Social Alternatives#

I ranked 7 tools on four questions: - Results: what each tool does for a Sprout user: publishing, inbox replies, reports, or listening. - Features: inbox, approvals, reports, listening, competitor tracking. - Pricing: the 12-month cost for 1 person and for 3 people, the billing basis, and how you leave. I checked every pricing page on Oct 16, 2026. - Problem solved: which Sprout complaint the tool removes, seats or renewals.

When two tools tie, the one that charges less as you add people ranks higher. That rule puts Brandwatch at #7: it sells through a quote and a contract, which repeats the problem that sent you here.

For reviews, I read Trustpilot, Software Advice, Capterra UK and TrustRadius, and I say which complaints I believe and why. I compared plans, terms and reviews.

If listening is the Sprout line item you want to cut first, start a free CommunityTracker.ai plan and run it next to Sprout for a month before your renewal date.

1. CommunityTracker.ai#

CommunityTracker.ai is my #1 because it replaces the part of Sprout that most teams pay extra for, listening, at one price for the whole team. It finds the Reddit, LinkedIn, Hacker News and GitHub threads where buyers ask for a tool or complain about one. It does not publish posts or run an inbox, so it replaces Sprout Listening and leaves publishing to another tool.

Source: CommunityTracker.ai homepage, captured Oct 16, 2026

Features#

CommunityTracker earns its rank on threads with intent, which Sprout's listening add-on doesn't sort for you. - Communities: Reddit on Free; Reddit, LinkedIn, Hacker News and GitHub on Starter; all communities on Pro. - AI filtering and scoring (Pro): sorts threads by intent and puts buyer questions at the top of your feed. - Warm emails: 100 a month on Starter and unlimited on Pro. A thread becomes a contact. - Response Generator: drafts a reply to a thread for the person who found it. - Share of Voice (Pro): your share of community threads against rivals, for a monthly report. - Daily Slack alerts (Pro): threads land where your team already works.

Pricing#

I'd start on Free, because a month on one keyword tells you more than a demo does. Every plan bills monthly, with no long-term contract, and you can cancel at any time. - Free ($0): 1 keyword, Reddit, daily alerts. - Starter ($39/month): 4 keywords, Reddit, LinkedIn, Hacker News and GitHub, 5,000 mentions, 100 warm emails. - Pro ($99/month): 10 keywords, all communities, unlimited mentions, AI filtering and scoring, Share of Voice, daily Slack alerts. - Advanced ($199/month, through sales): 20 keywords, Share of Voice Exporter, AI Visibility.

The price doesn't change with headcount. Three people on Pro cost $1,188 a year, the same as one. Prices checked Oct 16, 2026. See the pricing page.

Source: CommunityTracker.ai pricing page, captured Oct 16, 2026

Pros#

  • One price for the team. Adding a person adds $0, which removes Sprout's seat problem for listening.

  • Monthly billing, cancel anytime. No renewal date to miss.

  • Intent scores on Pro. Your team reads buyer threads first.

  • Free plan. You test on your brand before you pay.

Cons#

Ranked by what they cost you: 1. No publishing or inbox. If you leave Sprout entirely, you still need a scheduler such as Agorapulse or Buffer. 2. Daily alerts. A thread posted at 9 a.m. waits for the next digest. 3. No Facebook, Instagram or TikTok listening. 4. 0 user reviews. Trustpilot, G2, Capterra, Software Advice and TrustRadius show no reviews of CommunityTracker (checked Oct 16, 2026). You judge it on the free plan.

Summary#

My pick for the listening half of a Sprout setup: $99 a month on Pro, and the price stays flat as your team grows. - Pick it if you pay for Sprout Listening to find buyers or complaints in communities, and more than one person reads the results. - Skip it if you need a publisher and inbox, because CommunityTracker does neither.

2. Agorapulse#

Agorapulse does Sprout's core job, inbox, approvals and reports, for less per seat and with monthly billing. That makes it the switch I'd look at first if you want to replace all of Sprout.

Source: Agorapulse homepage, captured Oct 16, 2026

Features#

Agorapulse earns #2 by matching Sprout's daily workflow and letting you leave by the month. - Unified inbox: messages and comments from every network in one place. Reviewers name it as the reason they buy. - Approvals (Professional and up): a shared calendar and client sign-off. - ROI reports: Google Analytics links tie posts to traffic, which a manager asks for. - Listening: the former Mention product, sold through sales.

Pricing#

I'd start on the free plan, then pay monthly for the first quarter, because Agorapulse users report plan changes that raise the bill. - Standard: $99 per user a month billed monthly, or $79 billed annually. - Professional: $149 per user a month billed monthly, or $119 billed annually. - Advanced: $199 per user a month billed monthly, or $149 billed annually. - Custom: quote. - Free plan: yes, with no automatic charges.

Agorapulse still charges per user. Three people on Professional cost $4,284 a year billed annually, against $10,764 on Sprout Professional. Prices checked Oct 16, 2026. See our Agorapulse review.

Source: Agorapulse pricing page, annual billing, captured Oct 16, 2026

Source: Agorapulse pricing page, monthly billing, captured Oct 16, 2026

Pros#

  • Lower seat price. Professional costs $119 a user billed annually, against $299 a seat on Sprout Professional.

  • Monthly billing and a free plan. You can leave without a renewal fight.

  • Client approvals. Agencies keep the workflow they had in Sprout.

  • Support: most questions get an answer in under an hour.

Cons#

  1. Still per user. A team of 5 on Professional pays $745 a month billed monthly.

  2. Listening goes through sales. You're back to a quote for that part.

  3. Posting and upload failures in 2026 reviews.

  4. Billing complaints after stop requests and plan changes in 2025.

What users like#

  • Richard Tubb (Trustpilot, Nov 21, 2025): "Inbox Zero" for social (review).

  • Leslie Samuel (Trustpilot, Nov 21, 2025): the unified inbox is "the number one reason" (review).

  • Lincoln (Capterra UK, Jan 1, 2026): ROI reviews for stakeholders (Capterra UK).

  • Bruce M. (Software Advice, Mar 2022): other tools got more expensive at 3 or 4 users.

  • Jean (Trustpilot, Oct 7, 2023): moved from Hootsuite for the YouTube and TikTok inbox (review).

  • Oh So Social (Trustpilot, Nov 21, 2025): the client approval process (review).

What users dislike#

  • Social Admin (Trustpilot, Jan 30, 2026): tokens and posts fail, uploads stick at 99%, a 6-hour support wait (review).

  • David (Trustpilot, Jun 26, 2024): paid a year, then needed the next tier for reply tagging (review).

  • Agent Upgrade (Trustpilot, Oct 1, 2025): charges continued after a written stop request (review).

  • AgencyMan (Trustpilot, Jul 9, 2025): a plan change would double monthly fees (review).

  • Amaiya D'sa (Trustpilot, Oct 16, 2025): pricing on the high side for solo creators (review).

  • Chelsey M. Gray (TrustRadius, Sep 15, 2023): can't edit a caption per channel when cross-posting (review).

The November 2025 praise arrived within one week, so I weigh it less. The billing complaints from 2025 convince me, because two separate buyers describe charges after a stop request or a plan change. That's the same problem Sprout users report, at a lower price.

Summary#

This is the full Sprout replacement I'd test first, on monthly billing. - Pick it if you need an inbox, approvals and client reports, and 2 to 5 people need logins. - Skip it if listening is the reason you bought Sprout, because Agorapulse sells it through a quote.

3. Buffer#

Buffer charges per channel, so adding a person to Team costs $0. If your Sprout use was mostly scheduling, Buffer does it for a fraction of one Sprout seat.

Source: Buffer homepage, captured Oct 16, 2026

Features#

Buffer is #3: Team gives unlimited team members, and you give up the approvals and inbox depth Sprout users rely on. - Publishing: unlimited scheduled posts per channel on paid plans. - Community inbox: reply to comments from Buffer. - AI Assistant: drafts and rewrites posts. - Analytics: post and channel reports on Essentials and up. - Unlimited team members (Team): you add people without adding cost.

Pricing#

I'd count channels before people with Buffer, because the channel count sets the bill. - Free: 3 channels, 10 scheduled posts per channel. - Essentials: $6 per channel a month billed monthly, or $5 billed yearly ($60 a year per channel). 1 user. - Team: $12 per channel a month billed monthly, or $10 billed yearly ($120 a year per channel). Unlimited team members. - Trial: 14 days.

Five channels on Team cost $600 a year billed yearly, for any number of people. Prices checked Oct 16, 2026.

Source: Buffer pricing page, yearly billing, captured Oct 16, 2026

Source: Buffer pricing page, monthly billing, captured Oct 16, 2026

Pros#

  • Unlimited team members on Team. Seats leave the math.

  • Monthly billing and a free plan.

  • Low entry price. One channel costs $5 a month billed yearly.

  • Users report savings. One reviewer saved her company $500 by switching.

Cons#

  1. Posts that fail. 2026 reviews describe failed scheduled posts and lost connections.

  2. Thin analytics. A 2026 reviewer couldn't get data from tagged posts.

  3. No approvals or listening. Agencies lose sign-off, and you lose Sprout Listening.

  4. Cost per channel adds up for a brand with 20 profiles.

What users like#

Software Advice shows Buffer at 4.5 from 1,492 reviews, and Trustpilot shows 3.9 from 131 (both checked Oct 16, 2026). - Ebonie H. (Software Advice, Oct 2023): "I saved the company $500 by switching to Buffer." - Jack H. (Software Advice, Sep 2023): "We have the Teams account set up giving us unlimited users". - Lauren B. (Software Advice, Apr 2025): "Buffer allows managing multiple accounts at no extra cost." - Nuria R. (Software Advice, May 2025): "I can just queue all my posts at once and don't touch them again". - Kelly M. (Software Advice, Apr 2026): "I can schedule to every social media platform." - Tiffany (Trustpilot, Oct 3, 2026): "It's so nice to be able to schedule to multiple platforms all from the same place" (review).

What users dislike#

  • Anton (Trustpilot, Jul 2, 2026): "The posting has been unstable and unreliable" (review).

  • Kelly M. (Software Advice, Apr 2026): "The problems with posts going through have been happening every week."

  • Katarzyna (Trustpilot, Oct 6, 2026): "Their analytics tool doesn't offer many options" (review).

  • Luis Terán (Trustpilot, Jun 29, 2026): "The connection is a pain" (review).

  • Jen (Trustpilot, May 21, 2026): it "lacks the ability to use all the same features that I would normally have on the individual app settings" (review).

  • James R. (Software Advice, Jun 2023): "I dislike having to pay more for the interactive inbound connectivity."

Source: Trustpilot review by Anton, captured Oct 16, 2026

Source: Trustpilot review by Katarzyna, captured Oct 16, 2026

I give the short 5-star Trustpilot reviews from October 2026 little weight, because most are one line. The failed-post complaints convince me, because a 5-star reviewer (Kelly M.) and a 1-star reviewer (Anton) describe the same thing in 2026.

Summary#

Buffer fits a team that schedules first and wants to stop paying per person. - Pick it if your Sprout use was publishing, your channel count is under 10, and 3 or more people need logins. - Skip it if you need approvals, listening or deep reports.

4. Hootsuite#

Hootsuite covers most of Sprout's features and charges less per seat. It also bills per user, renews on its own and keeps fees on cancellation, so it fixes your price problem more than your contract problem.

Features#

Hootsuite sits at #4 because its Standard seat costs half of Sprout's and includes listening. - 10 social accounts on Standard, unlimited on Professional. - Inbox: messages from every network in one place. - Listening: 7 days of history on Standard, 30 on Professional. - Competitor benchmarks: 5 rivals on Standard, 20 on Professional. - Approvals and routing: Advanced only. - Wisdom: an AI teammate on every plan.

Pricing#

I'd buy one Standard seat and stop. Hootsuite's bill grows with each person, the same way Sprout's does. - Standard: $99 per user a month billed annually. - Professional: $199 per user a month billed annually. - Advanced: $399 per user a month billed annually. - Enterprise: quote. - Trial: 14 days, no card. - Terms: paid fees are non-refundable, and plans renew on their own.

Three people on Standard cost $3,564 a year, against $7,164 on Sprout Standard. Prices checked Oct 16, 2026 (USD in the page data). See our Hootsuite review.

Pros#

  • Half Sprout's seat price. $99 against $199 on the entry plan.

  • Listening in the seat. No add-on for basic listening.

  • 10 accounts on Standard, twice Sprout Standard's 5 profiles.

  • Canva integration that users name.

Cons#

  1. Auto-renewal and no refunds. Reviewers describe fees after a missed date.

  2. Approvals cost $399 a seat. Agencies pay for Advanced.

  3. Accounts that disconnect in 2026 reviews.

  4. Slow support by email in 2026 reviews.

What users like#

  • Grace (Trustpilot, Oct 22, 2025): posts once to multiple Facebook pages and Instagram accounts (review).

  • Keri Kuiper (TrustRadius, Aug 20, 2026): all 3 platforms with one click (review).

  • Jill F. (Software Advice, Jun 2026): a drag-and-drop calendar and a ticketing system for team work.

  • Amanda Bellavance (TrustRadius, Aug 21, 2026): her manager reviews drafts and analytics (review).

  • Leeann Gibbs (TrustRadius, Aug 21, 2026): industry benchmarks and agents in the inbox (review).

  • Basanta (Capterra UK, Dec 9, 2024): multiple accounts from one dashboard (Capterra UK).

What users dislike#

  • Melissa Ziegler (Trustpilot, Dec 12, 2025): 5 days late on an auto-renewal, then a 50% early termination fee (review).

  • Satu Kujanpää (Trustpilot, Jun 5, 2025): gave 60 days' notice where 90 were required, then a $500 increase (review).

  • Tristan N. (Software Advice, Dec 2025): charged over $1,000 after a roll-over.

  • John Siegel (TrustRadius, May 1, 2026): accounts disconnect (review).

  • Gary Oak (Trustpilot, Feb 13, 2026): no live support, a reply every 48 hours (review).

  • Doga (Capterra UK, May 23, 2025): "Very expensive", 2 stars.

Source: Trustpilot review by Melissa Ziegler, captured Oct 16, 2026

The renewal complaints carry the most weight for me, because three buyers from 2025 describe the same notice-window problem Sprout users report. Hootsuite shows 1.3 from 556 reviews on Trustpilot and 4.4 from 3,804 on Capterra UK (Oct 16, 2026).

Source: Trustpilot, Hootsuite reviews, captured Oct 16, 2026

Summary#

Hootsuite gets you Sprout's features at half the seat price, if you accept an annual contract. - Pick it if one or two people publish to up to 10 accounts and want listening in the same seat. - Skip it if you left Sprout over a renewal, because Hootsuite's terms work the same way.

5. Brand24#

Brand24 replaces Sprout Listening with a tool built for listening, and it stops charging per person from the Team plan up. It does not publish or run an inbox.

Source: Brand24 homepage, captured Oct 16, 2026

Features#

Brand24 solves the listening add-on cost for a team and does nothing for publishing, which keeps it at #5. - Sources: news sites, social networks, podcasts and review sites. - Unlimited users from Team up. - Update speed: every hour on Team, real time on Pro and above. - AI Brand Assistant and AI Insights (Pro and up): summaries for a manager. - Slack integration: one reviewer calls it "the most important thing".

Pricing#

I'd buy Team monthly for one cycle, because a month tells you whether 10,000 mentions covers your brand. - Individual: $249/month billed monthly, or $199 annually. 3 keywords, 2,000 mentions, 1 user. - Team: $349/month, or $299 annually. 7 keywords, 10,000 mentions, unlimited users. - Pro: $499/month, or $399 annually. 12 keywords, 40,000 mentions, real-time updates. - Business: $699/month, or $599 annually. 25 keywords, 100,000 mentions. - Enterprise: from $1,499/month billed annually. - Trial: 14 days.

A team of 3 on Team pays $3,588 a year billed annually, and a team of 8 pays the same. Prices checked Oct 16, 2026. See our Brand24 review.

Source: Brand24 pricing page, annual billing, captured Oct 16, 2026

Source: Brand24 pricing page, monthly billing, captured Oct 16, 2026

Pros#

  • Unlimited users from Team.

  • News, podcasts and review sites in one feed with social posts.

  • Monthly billing.

  • Self-serve. No sales call.

Cons#

  1. No publishing or inbox. You keep a scheduler.

  2. Mention caps. 2,000 a month on Individual runs out fast.

  3. Noise on broad keywords.

  4. Some US news sites missing, in one reviewer's account.

What users like#

  • Taby F. (Software Advice, Jul 2024): switching "saved us a ton of money."

  • Izabela S. (Software Advice, Oct 2025): "discovering untagged mentions I wouldn't see otherwise".

  • Ens C. (Software Advice, Jul 2024): "the most important thing is Slack integration."

  • Khasiba A. (Software Advice, Oct 2025): tracking across "news sites, social media (especially X/Twitter and Reddit)".

  • Luis S. (Software Advice, Aug 2024): "the price is fair".

What users dislike#

  • Taylor S. (Software Advice, Oct 2025): her company chose "an all-in-one platform like Sprout Social rather than an individual tool for social listening."

  • Michał A. (Software Advice, Jul 2025): "Occasionally, the tool captures irrelevant or low-quality mentions".

  • Marta Ż. (Software Advice, Jul 2025): "The filter sometimes lets incorrect content through".

  • Roberto L. (Software Advice, Jan 2025): "The cost can be a bit high for smaller companies".

  • Taby F. (Software Advice, Jul 2024): "some news sites in the US are blocked there."

  • Raul D. (Software Advice, Aug 2024): "sometimes is not real time."

Taylor S.'s review matters most for this post. Her team left Brand24 for Sprout's all-in-one, which tells you the trade: Brand24 does listening better per dollar, and you run two tools. Most Brand24 reviews on Software Advice are incentivized, so I weigh the specific complaints over the 4.7 average.

Summary#

Buy Brand24 if you bought Sprout Listening and want it without seat costs. - Pick it if 3 or more people read listening results and you keep a separate scheduler. - Skip it if you want one tool for publishing and listening.

6. Mentionlytics#

Mentionlytics gives a small team listening and share of voice for less than one Sprout seat. It covers 10 users on Essential, which ends the seat math for most small teams.

Source: Mentionlytics homepage, captured Oct 16, 2026

Features#

Mentionlytics beats Brand24 on price and user count for a small team. Reviewers report more speed and noise problems, so it sits one place lower. - Sources: news, blogs, social networks and review sites. - Share of voice against competitors. - Boolean, alerts and reports. - Users per plan: 2 on Basic, 10 on Essential, unlimited on Advanced.

Pricing#

I'd pay monthly for two months first, because reviewers say the mention limits run out. - Basic: $56/month billed monthly (was $66), or $49 billed yearly (was $58), on the current offer. 5,000 mentions, 2 users. - Essential: $160/month, or $141 yearly. 15,000 mentions, 10 users. - Advanced: $283/month, or $249 yearly. 50,000 mentions, unlimited users. - Pro: $473/month, or $416 yearly. 100,000 mentions.

Essential costs $1,692 a year billed yearly for up to 10 users. Prices checked Oct 16, 2026. See our Mentionlytics review.

Source: Mentionlytics pricing page, yearly billing, captured Oct 16, 2026

Source: Mentionlytics pricing page, monthly billing, captured Oct 16, 2026

Pros#

  • 10 users on Essential.

  • Share of voice included.

  • Monthly billing.

  • Fast support. Andrea and Eleftherios Xenarios both name it.

Cons#

  1. Low mention limits on Basic.

  2. Irrelevant matches that need cleaning.

  3. Slow on large feeds.

  4. No publishing.

What users like#

  • Melis C. (Software Advice, Jul 2024): share of voice proves marketing to leadership.

  • Eleftherios Xenarios (Trustpilot, Apr 21, 2026): issues resolved within a day (review).

  • Andrea (Capterra UK, Mar 22, 2023): support is "always a call away" (Capterra UK).

  • John Dalloway (Trustpilot, Feb 21, 2024): setup and pricing (review).

  • Jobst E. (Software Advice, Feb 2023): share of voice set up with little effort.

What users dislike#

  • Melis C. (Software Advice, Jul 2024): irrelevant matches.

  • Daniel K. (Software Advice, Feb 2023): slow, with low mention limits.

  • Andrea (Capterra UK, Mar 22, 2023): runs out of mentions.

  • Stathis K. (Software Advice, Nov 2022): lags on large feeds.

  • Jobst E. (Software Advice, Feb 2023): too many add-ons and tiers.

  • Fotini Z. (Software Advice, Mar 2023): a cluttered interface.

The speed complaints date from 2022 and 2023. I'd test speed on your own feed in the first month and decide then.

Summary#

For listening and share of voice under $200 a month, I'd start here. - Pick it if up to 10 people need listening and your brand produces under 15,000 mentions a month. - Skip it if you need publishing or real-time crisis alerts.

7. Brandwatch#

Brandwatch covers listening and publishing in one contract, which is what Sprout Advanced buyers often want. It sells through a quote, and its reviewers describe the same auto-renewals that push people off Sprout.

Features#

Brandwatch sits at #7 because it matches Sprout's breadth and repeats Sprout's contract risk. - Consumer research: query writing with NLP help and dashboard segments. - Benchmarks: competitor comparison users find readable. - Publishing: the former Falcon.io tools, with a content pool and calendar. - Customization across use cases, at the cost of complexity.

Pricing#

Every plan is a quote. One Trustpilot reviewer paid $12,000 a year for 3 users on a 2-year deal (Dec 30, 2025). - All plans: quote only. - Reported price: $12,000 a year, 3 users, 2 years.

That reported price is $4,000 per user a year, more than Sprout Professional's $3,588. Checked Oct 16, 2026. See our Brandwatch review.

Pros#

  • Listening and publishing in one tool.

  • Segmentation and benchmarks for research.

  • Query help that users name.

Cons#

  1. Auto-renewals that buyers couldn't cancel.

  2. Quote only.

  3. Features sold one by one.

  4. Complexity.

Two buyers in 2025 and 2026 describe the same auto-renewal problem, and I take them at their word. I left out Trustpilot reviews about scam letters that use the Brandwatch name.

Summary#

Last on my list for a Sprout buyer, because it trades one contract for another. - Pick it if you run consumer research and want publishing in the same contract. - Skip it if you left Sprout over a renewal or seat costs.

FAQ#

What is a free Sprout Social alternative?#

CommunityTracker.ai has a free plan for community listening, Agorapulse has a free plan for publishing and the inbox, and Buffer is free for 3 channels.

Which Sprout Social alternative doesn't charge per seat?#

Buffer Team gives unlimited team members and charges per channel. Brand24 gives unlimited users from Team. CommunityTracker.ai charges one price per plan.

How do I cancel Sprout Social?#

Under Sprout's terms (checked Oct 15, 2026), the Account Owner cancels on the billing page before the renewal date. If you pay by invoice or on an annual plan with monthly payments, you email your customer success manager at least 30 days before the term ends. Keep the reply.

Can I replace Sprout with one tool?#

Agorapulse and Hootsuite replace publishing, the inbox and reports in one tool. Neither replaces Sprout Listening on a self-serve plan, so a team that listens needs a second tool or a quote.

When should I start the switch?#

I'd start 60 days before your Sprout renewal date. That gives you a month on the new tool and leaves the 30-day notice window open.

My Verdict: Which Sprout Social Alternative Should You Pick?#

I think headcount decides this more than features do. Price each tool for your team over 12 months, then pick. - If you paid for Sprout Listening to find buyers in communities, pick CommunityTracker.ai Pro at $99 a month for the team. - If you need Sprout's inbox, approvals and reports, pick Agorapulse, billed monthly for the first quarter. - If you mostly schedule and 3 or more people need logins, pick Buffer Team. - If one person publishes and wants listening in the same seat, pick Hootsuite Standard and put the renewal date in your calendar. - If you want listening for a team without seat costs, pick Brand24 Team, or Mentionlytics Essential under $200 a month. - If you need research and publishing under one contract, pick Brandwatch and negotiate the renewal terms before you sign.

The budget pick: Buffer Team at $10 a channel billed yearly, for any number of people.

The upgrade pick: Agorapulse Professional at $119 a user billed annually, if approvals for clients are the reason you paid for Sprout.

Whatever you pick, put your Sprout notice date in your calendar today.
